I’ve found such a cheap and easy cleaning hack to keep my taps limescale free, I didn’t expect it to work but it’s great | The Sun

A LIFE-HACK social media star has discovered a new way of keeping taps from developing limescale and all you need is a candle and cloth.

Andre, who goes by the username anderlifehack, uses his TikTok platform to find useful tips and tricks before testing them out himself.

But when he found a clip of someone using a yellow straw-like piece of candle wax on their taps, he appeared dumbfounded.

He immediately set out to test the idea himself in a bid to see if it produced the same results.

Taking a large white candlestick, he set about rubbing it all over the top of his sink tap, making sure to coat the entire surface before taking a cloth to spread it around.

After wiping it down to be streak free, he then turned the tap on and placed some water over it.

“Candle makes your clean tap last longer,” he wrote in the caption with a smiling emoji with sunglasses.

Fans were left equally impressed with the tip and flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.

“Off to candle my taps,” one person joked as another praised: “You are changing my like one tiktok at a time.”

Although some couldn’t contain their surprise and awe at the discovery, others said they’d been doing this for years and even offered alternative suggestions that could prove to be easier than using a candlestick.

“Even do that on the sneakers in winter so the water doesn’t go in these are 60s trick,” one person said.

As a second suggested: “I've been wax paper buffing all my taps for years it’s a bit easier than the candle method but both work!”

And a fourth offered yet another method, explaining: “Don’t ruin a candle. Use car wax. I use it all over and inside the sink, tub and toilet. Very little cleaning is required bc of it.”
