HAILEY and Justin Bieber's widely contrasting style has become a Hollywood talking point.
But a fashion psychologist claimed Justin's casual outfit choices actually show solidarity between the couple.
On August 30, Hailey, 26, and Justin, 29, were photographed together outside a Krispy Kreme in New York City.
The model was working and promoting her new collaboration with the world-famous donut brand.
As the couple paraded up the sidewalk, the leggy model wore a tight red mini dress and heels.
Hailey had styled her hair perfectly and wore immaculate, neutral makeup.
Behind her was Justin in a gray sweatshirt. His hood was up and he had placed a pink hat on top.
The pop star's baggy gray shorts were matched with yellow crocs and white socks.
Fans flocked online to comment on the difference. One said: "Ok now I feel bad for her LMAO."
Another wrote: "Honestly at that point, I’d rather my husband stay home than publicly embarrass me."

Justin regularly wears baggy hoodies and hats, while Hailey is dressed up to the nines.
In an exclusive interview, Carolyn Mair, PhD told The U.S. Sun: “Hailey and Justin look close and he was not disrespecting her.
“They are dressed in different styles, but I think she looks quite happy with that.
“Also, this picked her out more in her red dress.
“There is nothing much to say about his jogging suit, apart from the pink hat, which is odd.
“The fact that they are not wearing the same styles also does not mean they are not compatible.
“Her husband often prefers a more casual, streetwear style.
"Hailey might not mind this because it makes her look even better.
“Justin also might be pleasing her by dressing like he does.
“Hailey might get more attention because of this, and perhaps this is what she wants.
“Privately she could also prefer to see him dressed up.
“But for these images, it might take away the attention from her slightly.”
Mair said it was standard practice for couples like Hailey and Justin to manage their looks differently.
“For women, it is typically appearance first," she said.
“Hailey is super groomed – everything about her, her makeup and her hair.
“Women are judged more on their appearance than men are.
“Good-looking women are more successful in many walks of life than less attractive women.
“There is also a psychological benefit from the positive feedback attractive people get.
“It boosts confidence and self-esteem which makes them appear even more attractive.
“For couples dressing up, you find that in quite a lot of relationships, women put more effort into their appearance than men do.
“For Hailey and Justin specifically, she also has followers who focus on how she looks.
“Maybe it makes her more focused on that every time she goes out.
“She is going to get noticed because she is well-groomed and takes care of herself.
“Whereas Justin does not feel the need for such a groomed style. He prefers the casual, streetwear look.”
Justin and Hailey reportedly dated for a short period toward the end of 2015.
After splitting up and getting back together, they married in September 2018 in New York. They had a second wedding a year later.
Rumors have been circulating that Hailey and Justin are expecting their first child.
Mair claimed Hailey and Justin’s contrasting styles does underscore a strong marriage.
“For one, this couple is confident in their skin," she claimed.
“What they are also doing is showing their unique identity.
“They feel very comfortable together and do not have to prove anything to each other.
“They are saying that they can be authentic to themselves and still be in a strong relationship.
“This is not matchy-matchy because the styles are so different from each other.
“In their marriage, they will continue dressing as they do as individuals and showing their different personalities.
“What might be indicative of a change in the state of their relationship, is if they start to dress similarly.
“This could mean that they may be feeling less confident in their relationship, and feeling the need to show explicitly they are aligned.
“I think if we saw one changing and she became far more casual or he became more formal, it could show a disjoint.”
Professionally Hailey and Justin have also followed different paths.
Hailey started modeling in 2014 and has appeared on the catwalk for designers like Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, and Dolce & Gabbana.
As the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin, she became a firm fixture on the Hollywood social scene.
Hailey is also close friends with the Kardashians sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner.
In 2022, Hailey launched her skincare line, Rhode.
Justin shot to fame as a 12-year-old singer when he was spotted performing via YouTube.
From there, the Canadian native’s fresh-faced looks, voice, and teen appeal saw his singing career skyrocket.
The Grammy and MTV award winner has sold around 150million records worldwide.
Mair continued: “Hailey will continue to look that way as long as she is part of an appearance-focused industry such as modeling.
“Justin has other avenues for his talents such as his music, and his brand.
“While they are still alive and successful and profitable, he will still be dressing like that.
“Justin became famous because he had a cutesy face and his music appealed to a young audience.
“Justin Bieber became successful in his music and is talented.
“Now in addition to his music career, he has his clothing brand.
“He looks like a musician, rather than a male model for a formal wear brand.
“Over the years, like anyone, his face has changed and I am sure his fans think he is attractive.”
Mair continued: “When they are both dressed up they are equally attractive.
“I do prefer to see them dressed up. Justin looks a lot more attractive when he is dressed up.
“When they got married, he wore a more formal suit.
“Justin was also on the red carpet at the Met Gala.
