SHE’S always the picture of elegance when she’s out in public, but Kate Middleton knows when it’s appropriate to let her hair down too.
The Princess of Wales, 41, revealed she recently kicked off her shoes and ran barefoot in a parents’ race at her children’s sports day.
Kate made the revelation on Mike Tindall’s podcast, The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, alongside Prince William.
Speaking from the green drawing room at Windsor Castle, she revealed: "There are lots of schools that have banned parents' races because it has become far too competitive."
The Princess was asked if she would ever take part in a sports day race, and she replied: "We have done!
"We were told categorically there was no parents' race.

“But then they called a last-minute parents' race, and me with the competitive side, both of us were like … we have to take part.
“So I had to do it in bare feet."
Kate and William are parents to Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, who currently attend the swanky, £7k-a-term Lambrook school, Berkshire, for their studies.
Famously, Princess Diana took part in a running race during William's sports day in 1989 and came in first place.

Future king Prince William, 41, also admitted to having taken part in the race during the 50-minute episode, which was a special Rugby World Cup edition and took place on Wednesday.
He said: "I came second. I started off just running, joining in and looked round. I was quite far out in front and there was an Italian dad in front and I thought I've got to catch him."
Kate added: "And I ran in barefoot in the same race."
Kate also revealed she’s a fan of cold-water swimming at night and plays “beer pong” with Mike.
Host Mike confirmed that Kate has a competitive streak, adding: “I've seen her play beer pong!”
The party game involves people throwing ping pong balls into cups of beer near their opponents, who have to down the contents of the drink if the ball lands successfully.
Meanwhile, speaking of her love of swimming, Kate said: "I really, genuinely love all sports. Personally, I love swimming wherever I can.
"Cold swimming – the colder, the better. I absolutely love it. Slightly to the point where William's [saying], 'You're crazy' and it's dark and it's raining.
"I will go and seek out cold water. I love it."
