A MOM'S seemingly fun tip for keeping drinks cool during summer BBQs and picnics has divided her followers.
She said it was a great alternative to using bags of ice, but some of her viewers considered it dangerous.
Virginia H. Lane's (@virginiahlane) idea seemed innocuous, but that's not how others saw it.
In her post, she shared her summer event party hack, and first of all, she had a huge metal bath ready to contain the drinks.
But she wasn't about to use any ice to keep her beverages icy cold. She had an alternative and she called it her “Summer party hack."
“For your outdoor events don’t use ice in your cooler," she said.
As she tossed aside her bag of ice, Virginia revealed her secret weapon and it might not be what you expected.
“Instead use water balloons," she wrote. She had a bag of multi-colored inflatables and filled them with water.
Once this was done, she popped them carefully in the freezer in order for them to go solid overnight.
In the morning, the balloons were taken out and placed in the water cooler.

But there was another fun use for these balloons, once they were suitably defrosted.
“Once they melt that’s when the fun begins," she said and pictured her and her family laughing as they targeted each other with the water-filled and icy balloons.
While some commenters appreciated the light-hearted side of her hack, others were not impressed seeing the potential dangers that could be involved.
“I wouldn’t do that at an event because nowadays lots of people have latex allergies and now that they are in the cooler they are cross-contaminated," said this concerned viewer.
“All fun and games until that one kid picks up a frozen one and throws it at his cousin’s head," said another.
There were similar words of caution from this follower: “Good idea but not sure if the kids or adults would wait for them to defrost."
The final commenter knew for certain it wouldn't work in their family: “No way in hell. My kids will throw them as hard as they can," they said.
