My daughter was dress-coded at school because she’s tall & her T-shirts don’t cover enough – I’m raging at the rules | The Sun

A MUM says she was left raging after she thought her daughter was unfairly dress-coded at school.

Peggy Bolton couldn’t believe it when her little girl returned home to tell her what had happened – and took to social media to rant about the situation.

Peggy, who shared the story via TikTok @peggybolton, had sent her daughter to school wearing what she believed to be a sensible T-Shirt.

She took the chance to show her 64.4k followers the outfit in question, as a photo of the grey sports style baggy T-shirt appeared on the screen behind her.

Peggy then showed the top from various different angles, also capturing the back to show “how much it covers.”

However, it appears the school staff in charge weren’t so sure it met regulations, as the length didn’t reach her fingertips.

Peggy explained: “Ok, first of all, here’s the violator herself.

“This was the shirt that was against the dress code.

“So she walked in the cafeteria and immediately got sent upstairs to where they have a wardrobe, I guess, to pick from other clothing.”

Peggy then claimed: “So she was late to class and didn’t get to eat breakfast.”

But once her daughter tried on one of the so-called “non violation” shirts, it became apparent that there had potentially been a bit of a mix-up.

Peggy continued to recall how the lady in charge had then realised how tall the little girl was – and that none of their tops would work for her height either.

The mum turned to her daughter and asked: “The lady said what? ‘You’re tall with long arms, you are not going to find a shirt that goes to your fingertips.’

Luckily, this led to a change of heart.

Peggy said: “The lady upstairs didn’t end up writing her the violation because all the shirts they had upstairs that were ‘long enough’ were, in fact, not long enough for her.”

But, clearly annoyed, she said it had got her thinking about how unfair the dress code really is.

Peggy ranted: “So again, why are dress codes one size fits all?

“Because this shirt would probably come to my knees but they’re not even to her fingertips.
