My grass was covered in bald spots but I didn’t want to fork out on compost so tried a loo roll hack – it worked wonders | The Sun

AFTER resisting the urge to fork out on compost, one woman decided to try a home remedy to help grass regrow in the bald patches of her garden.

Explaining that she saw the trick trending on social media platform TikTok, @Ibhomespiff decided to try it out for herself and documented the process for others to see.

Boasting 22.3k followers on her channel that’s all about gardening and home décor, the woman revealed that it actually worked.

The video started with the woman mixing grass seed with toilet paper and water in a plastic bowl.

“Mix grass seed and toilet paper… Have you tried this?” she wrote over the clip.

Once the consistency turned slightly hard, she placed bunches of the mixture onto the dry and bald patches in her garden.

Seven days later, she returned to see if the trick had worked and found that that grass did actually start re-growing in those areas – confirming that she didn’t need to dish out cash for compost after all.

“It worked!” she wrote over the video, before adding in the caption: “Have you tried this?? Cool hack….or not?”

While some people were impressed with the outcome, others were not quite convinced of it all.

“I’m sure it would have been cheaper to buy compost and cover it than toilet roll !” [sic] one person wrote.

Another person shared: “The grass is only seeding in the mashed up paper and not the ground so it won’t work”.

“You’re now growing grass in paper above where your lawn is. Well done,” another said.

And some said they tried the same hack with no such luck.

“I tried this last year with no success.” one person said as a second agreed: “I also tried this and it was a fail.”
