My husband is 'dead set' on a name for our son but I don't like it – people agree it's 'ridiculous' and 'cringe' | The Sun

A WOMAN has explained her quandary over her husband's unusual choice of name for their son.

He is "dead set" on it, but she just does not like it at all and is despairing over what to do.

The name was, according to some views she gathered, either "cringy" or "ridiculous."

She took her problem to the online forum Reddit hoping for some clarity and reassurance.

Unfortunately, she didn't achieve a lot of that, with respondents siding with her and her misgivings about the name.

In her post, she laid out the issue.

"My husband is dead set on naming our baby boy Zuko. I think it would be cute for a kid and cool for a teenager," she wrote.

But she couldn't help but anticipate his future with this unconventional name.

"I just can’t imagine a 30-year-old man named Zuko," she said.

Her husband had dismissed her name choices, so she was feeling stuck with his favorite.

"I have five or six names I really like but he hates them all. He doesn’t like anything but Zuko."

Zuko, according to them, was either an avatar or a good name for a dog.

One person offered their views: "If my niece told me she was dating someone named Zuko, I’d most definitely giggle/cringe a bit."

Another reminded her there was a character sharing the same name from a famous movie: "Watch Grease with him and tell him you're trying to come around to the name. Danny Zuko."

It was the name of another non-human character too: "I can't decide if I like it or if it sounds ridiculous. All I keep thinking about is the show Avatar."

This person's view will have done little to reassure her: "It honestly sounds like a dog's name."

But there were positives.

"In my opinion, it's a good conversation starter," opined this commenter.

It was a view shared in this final remark but with a proviso: "The name is fun, and I love Avatar, but I do not think you should put Zuko on that baby’s birth certificate."
