My no-scrub method will clean all the nasty limescale out of your kettle – just add my secret ingredient and boil | The Sun

LET nasty limescale be a thing of the past thanks to this super-easy kettle-cleaning tip from a lifestyle creator.

All it required was water and one secret ingredient, boil them up, and let the magic do its work.

The idea came from Homie (@homiecollection) who has over 42,000 followers and another 311,000 likes on her TikTok.

“Appreciation for home organization and maintenance," is her platform remit.

This is a lady who loves an orderly home and that starts with the hidden parts that are often missed.

But not by this cleaning aficionado.

“Do you clean the inside of your kettle?" she asked. "I just learned how and here’s the trick. Now it’s become a regular practice in my house."

First, open the lid of your kettle and see what is lingering, sight unseen, at the bottom.

“If you open it up you see a white chalky residue – that’s limescale build-up," she explained.

But have no fear because her hack was effective and required no elbow grease.

“Here’s how to clean it. It’s super easy." First out of her cleaning bag was her secret ingredient.

“Take a little bit of white vinegar and pour it into the kettle.

“Boil it with some water, pour it out, and then rinse it several times with fresh clean water.

“And then boil that water again and rinse again before you use your kettle."

The finished result was a clear indicator her hack worked: "Look how clean the bottom is."

It was limescale-free.

Her post has proved to be popular with over 107,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

Many commenters vouched for her method.

This fan was one of them: “Vinegar is the number one cleaning product for calk. You can use it on your mirror too.”
