People are just realizing how to get rid of annoying pest that's eating your strawberry plants | The Sun

PEOPLE are just realizing how to get rid of an annoying pest that destroys strawberry plants, and the hack is easier than you might think.

One woman shared the hack on her TikTok account.

Brittany (@gardenmomma27) regularly shares tips and tricks on gardening.

"Let's get rid of the ants on your strawberry plant," Brittany said in one clip.

"The best thing for ants and strawberries is cinnamon," she continued.

Brittany then sprinkles the cinnamon generously onto her strawberry plant and claims that the little creatures will be gone shortly.

According to Plants Heaven: "It's important to note that ants don’t harm your strawberry plants. The ants show up when other bugs secrete a particular type of called honeydew for them to eat."

As such, keeping them at bay will help to ward off other creatures that could cause damage to your plant.

Gardening fans are also sharing tips and tricks on how to get rid of pesky weeds.

Posting in the Gardening UK Facebook page, savvy homeowners have shared the totally free trick they swear by to kill weeds the same day.

This comes after one gardening fan wrote in the group: "To those of you who use boiling water to kill the weeds growing in the patio, how often and for how long do you do it to see a difference?”

Many of the gardening fans claimed to see results almost instantly when using boiling water.

One said: “Poured hot water on the weeds and next day they were burnt to a crisp, then I pulled them out and not seen any since.”

And a second agreed: “I have found it depends on the weed – most of my patio weeds reacted pretty quickly. I use boiling water on my driveway.”

"As soon as you notice the weeds put boiling water on it.

"I go round every week with the kettle my drives weed-free," a third wrote.
