Meghan Markle showcased her workwear basics when she visited Project Fearless in Amsterdam earlier this year. Founded by Merida Miller in 2019 to equip girls and nonbinary kids with tools to succeed, the nonprofit organization hosted an entrepreneurship course, and Markle acted as guest coach. The Archewell founder has pulled off many looks in a good blazer — from wearing friend and designer Serena Williams’s line back in 2018 to the Valentino power suit she donned at the Invictus Games. And her latest blazer outfit is one more to add to her repertoire.
Markle, 40, made an appearance wearing Chloé’s classic tailored jacket in nude, which comes with sleek pockets on both sides. She layered it on top of a black crewneck and leather skinny pants for a modern touch. The author and philanthropist accessorized with Paul Andrew pumps and some of her delicate, everyday jewelry, including her wedding-ring stack, a Cartier Love bracelet, Princess Diana’s Cartier Tank watch, and a Cartier Juste un Clou collar necklace. She added stackable rings from Canadian jeweler Maison Birks.
The look immediately brought to mind one of Princess Diana’s solo visits abroad to Nepal in 1993, where she was pictured greeting crowds and signing a grant from the British Red Cross to assist with agriculture and irrigation projects, following her split from Prince Charles. The Princess of Wales chose a minimalist look, pairing a camel blazer with a cream V-neck vest and accessorizing simply with a watch and hoop earrings. The look-alike moment is further proof of Markle and Diana’s mastery of the business-casual aesthetic.
It’s not the first time Markle has paid homage to her late mother-in-law’s style in recent history. She wore pinstripe pants to daughter Lili’s birthday, much like a pair Diana owned. She also chose a monochrome suit from Dior for the National Service of Thanksgiving, reminiscent of a Versace look Diana wore to arrive at Buenos Aires Airport in 1995.
