For Taylor Swift, a new album comes with a new era of style. The 11-time Grammy winner was honored with the songwriter-artist of the decade achievement at Wednesday evening’s Nashville Songwriter Awards, where she dazzled in a black figure-hugging sequin gown. It was a sultrier choice for the singer, who started revealing her “Midnights” track list on TikTok just hours after the ceremony. The Michael Kors Collection design had all the elements of a sleek, striking dress: an asymmetrical hip cutout, one sleeve, and a high slit.
With her signature blond hair styled into a long bubble pony, Swift teamed the mock-neck dress with sparkly Aquazzura sandals and drop earrings from Rahaminov Diamonds. As she performed the full 10-minute version of “All Too Well” and gave a speech about her approach to songwriting, her dress glistened at every turn. Swift has so far been leaning into lustrous embellishments and alluring silhouettes in her “Midnights” era, similar to her fashion during her “Reputation” period in 2017 and 2018.
To tease out her upcoming music during a surprise appearance at the VMAs in August, she wore an entirely sheer naked dress from Oscar de la Renta covered in draped crystals. Later that night for an afterparty, she changed into a midnight-blue Moschino romper lined with crystals and adorned with sequined stars. More recently, Swift opted for another unexpected dress for the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 11, a Louis Vuitton halter gown decorated with mirrored gold-coin details.
