The 6 secret celebrity matchmakers you never knew about & who played cupid to some of Hollywood's hottest couples | The Sun

WHEN your little black book reads like a who’s who in celeb land, it’s not hard to find eligible partners for your friends and family.

That’s apparently exactly what happened with Hollywood hunk Channing Tatum and his actress wife-to-be Zoe Kravitz, who recently got engaged.

Hollywood’s latest power couple were reportedly introduced by Magic Mike star Channing’s close friend – Zoe’s former step-dad Jason Mamoa.

Rumour has it that Jason – who was married to Batwoman star Zoe’s mum Lisa Bonet for sixteen years before splitting in 2022 – set the pair up.

And sources say that Aquaman actor Jason is thrilled that it’s all worked out and can’t wait to see Channing, 43, and Zoe, 34, tie the knot in the future.

But Jason isn’t the only star who has played Cupid for his pals over the years. In fact, he’s the latest in a long line of famous faces who have decided to turn matchmaker.

They’ve been happily married for almost a decade and share two children, Patricia, four, and two-year-old Freddie.

But TV presenter Christine Lampard and former footballer turned manager Frank Lampard may never have met and fallen head over heels without the helping hand of journalist and former Good Morning Britain presenter, Piers Morgan.

Recalling when she first met Frank, Christine, 44, explained: “It was October 6, 2009, the Grosvenor House Hotel [in London].

“I was doing the One Show at the time and I was worried about coming in late but I thought, 'No, I am going to go’ then Frank decided last minute – so technically neither of us was meant to be there at all.

COURTENEY COX AND JOHNNY MCDAID – SET UP BY ED SHEERAN

He’s famed for writing catchy love songs – and it turns out singer Ed Sheeran has got the credentials to back it up.

After Ed became close with Friends actress Courteney Cox, he began hanging out at her house.

In 2013, she threw a star-studded gathering and Ed asked if he could bring his mate along – Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid.

Ed explained: “I introduced her to my best mate Johnny, who I wrote Shape of You and Bad Habits with.

“She just invited me round her house and I just kept going round and then one day I brought Johnny and he didn’t come home.”

The pair went on to start a relationship, and Johnny popped the question a year later. They briefly split in 2015, but rekindled their romance in 2016 and have been together ever since.

And just earlier this year, mum-of-one Courteney, 59, thanked Ed, 32, for helping her get her happy ending alongside the 47-year-old musician.

In a sweet montage posted to social media to celebrate ten years together, Courteney shared a snap of Ed and Johnny together, as she wrote: “10 years ago, this guy introduced me to…this guy.”

ED SHEERAN AND CHERRY SEABORN – SET UP BY TAYLOR SWIFT

After setting up his best mate, karma came back around to help Ed Sheeran out – step forward Taylor Swift.

Ed and Cherry Seaborn knew one another from a young age as they went to school together.

But it was only when chart-topper Taylor threw an epic 4th July party that the two connected on a romantic level.

Ed explained: “So the story was, I was at Taylor's party, and then a girl I went to school with who's really cool ended up being in Rhode Island.

“She's like, 'I'm in Rhode Island!' And I was like, 'Taylor, can she turn up?'

“And Taylor was like, ‘Yeah!’ And here we are…”

Since, Ed has had a muse for all of his songwriting, as he and Cherry tied the knot in 2019. They’ve since become parents to daughters Lyra, three, and Jupiter, one.

Speaking about their family unit, Ed has said: “It just feels like what life was meant to be. It's great.” Aww!

STANLEY TUCCI AND FELICITY BLUNT – SET UP BY EMILY BLUNT

The Devil Wears Prada is one of Emily Blunt’s most iconic roles to date – but it’s also close to her heart for a very different reason.

While working on the 2006 hit film, Emily, 40, met co-star Stanley Tucci – who was then married to his late wife Kate – and they became firm friends.

So much so that Stanley, 62, attended Emily’s Italian nuptials to husband John Krasinski in 2010. Stanley’s first wife had sadly passed away and, while there, he met Emily’s literary agent sister.

The two connected and began dating – something that, according to sources at the time – was something Emily was thrilled to have helped come to fruition.

“Emily loved Stanley on the set of Devil, and just thought they would hit it off, so she set them up,” a friend of Emily’s was reported to say. “Felicity is a lovely person and very warm and comforting.”

Since, Stanley and Felicity have gone on to get married in a low-key ceremony in 2012 and welcomed two children. They also co-authored the 2014 book, The Tucci Table.

Speaking about their relationship, he said: ““I consider myself very, very lucky to be married to her.

“We met after I had experienced a great loss and she brought joy into my life and still does.”

CAMERON DIAZ AND BENJI MADDEN – SET UP BY NICOLE RICHIE

It might sound like a plot out of one of her romcoms, but Cameron Diaz’ marriage is all thanks to Nicole Richie, who made sure they were in the same room at the same time.

Nicole and her husband Joel Madden were at an event with Joel’s twin Benji and Cameron.

Nicole then reportedly introduced the pair, as she has joked in the past that she’s the reason for their lasting romance. Speaking of her brother-in-law’s relationship, she said: “I'm going to take responsibility for everything! I approve of anything that's going to make Benji happy.”

Meanwhile, Cameron, 51, has confessed that Nicole and Joel definitely played a part in her and 44-year-old Benji’s love story, as she said: “We were in the same room because of them, and then we found each other.”
