This is the piece that's about to be everywhere from Zara’s latest collaboration

Mark our words: the delicately embroidered dress from Zara’s collection with Narcisco Rodriguez is about about to be everywhere.

Every season is dress season. Whether the skies are blue and balmy – which calls for the most pared-back of them all, the humble slip dress – or thunderous and grey – at which point we usher in warm and snuggly dresses, the equivalent of hugs from your favourite person – dresses are a year-round perennial, perfect for each and every weather eventuality.

But sometimes – on the odd occasion – a brand will create a dress that’s so good and so versatile, it almost transcends seasons and even trends. Zara’s latest collection in collaboration with Narcisco Rodriguez is one such hyped line, whose star is unequivocally the humble embroidered slip dress.

The embroidered dress from the Narciso Rodriguez is a real stand-out star.

In honour of Hispanic Heritage Month, Zara has tapped Rodriguez to dig deep into his archives and replicate several of his favourite looks for a one-of-a-kind exclusive capsule. The red dress that features in the collection was originally from his spring/summer 2018 collection, while the star of the collection, the embroidered dress, is a nod to a replica that found its way into the designer’s spring/summer 1997 collection.

The archival collection is also full of jumpsuits and sharp staples too.

The virtues of this simple yet elevated dress is two-fold. By investing in good-quality dresses that transcend seasons, you avoid mindless splurging and spending throughout the year. There’s then the fact that a V-neck slip dress isn’t just for summer: for when the weather takes a dip, wear a snuggly cashmere jumper underneath it, for the blustery yet sun-dappled months of spring, a simple T-shirt is all that’s needed to be worn underneath the dress. It’s a style win-win.
