A BEACH-LOVING family has created seaside vibes by creating a homemade version in their backyard.
It was a huge effort and the whole family was roped in to help with the mammoth exercise, adding finishing touches such as sand, a hammock, and a kiddie pool.
But the finished look was more than worth it. The transformation has made trips to the beach much easier for this family now.
Maggy Day (@_thedayfamily_) shared the makeover on her TikTok.
Her platform has over 25,000 followers and another 1.3 million likes, but this post was a detour from their usual content.
“We built a beach in our backyard," she announced at the top of her post.
Then added: “When you can’t live without the beach, you build one yourself."
The area designated for their shore-line experience was a non-descript patch of ground covered by a plain wooden gazebo-like structure.
The ground beneath it was covered with gravel and was an unlikely setting for anything beach-like.
But first, it needed sand, lots and lots of it, and it was a communal effort to see this part of the plan through.

Dozens of bags of sand were bought from a hardware store and transported back to the family home, whereupon the whole family was roped in.
Children, young and old, pulled their weight and carried the bags of sand to the beach spot.
Once this part of the job was completed, it was the fun part and everyone helped empty the bags, giving one child the opportunity to do some sand angels.
The sand was contained within a wooden frame and around that fresh gravel was laid.
A naturalistic fence was erected that surrounded the area, giving it definite vacation vibes.
In case there was any doubt, a big sign stuck on the fence announced‘Beach.’
Inside, the beach atmosphere continued with all the furnishings one would associate with a beachside holiday.
There were lots to do for children with this homemade beach, with buckets and spades and shells hidden in the sand.
There was a hammock, beach chairs, and table, a parasol, and a kiddie pool. There was also a potted palm tree and a wooden whale nailed to one of the posts.
