A WOMAN has revealed the strange way she washes her hats and people are saying it’s why you should always be careful before eating at someone's house.
The fashion fan said she had only just learned that you can clean your caps by putting them in the dishwasher.
The woman who goes by @Rakhstar shared her method in a TikTok video online.
She said: “I just discovered that you wash baseball caps in the dishwasher.”
Rakhstar said before putting her caps in the dishwasher she secures the hat in a hat cage so they don’t lose their shape.
She said: “I bought this hat cage on Amazon to retain the shape.”

“It worked really well. We put it in the dishwasher and this is what it looked like after.”
The fashion fan claimed the hack has worked well to remove stains.
She said: “I had some sweats stains on it and dirt and obviously now it doesn’t.”
“Then we just let it air dry for like eight hours or so in the cage and it looks as good as new.”

Rakhstar assumed everyone already new the hack.
She said: “I know most hat wearers prob already knew this, but I did not.”

But her video racked up over 15 million views and it became clear many people had never heard of the hat washing method.
One user said: “You can’t eat at everybody’s house.”
Another said: “Friendly reminder to self: do an extensive research about people habits before accepting a dinner invite.”
“I just buy a new hat every year. I'm at 25 Lewis Hamilton hats and counting,” a third said.
But some viewers thought Rakhstar’s tip was a great hack.
One user said: “My papa used to do this, he said he’d been doing it since dishwashers were invented! Thank you for unlocking that memory.”
