Woman shares the genius way she keeps fruit flies away for the summer & all you need is a dehumidifier and some oranges | The Sun

A WOMAN has shared the easy way she stops annoying fruit flies from buzzing around her home.

Fruit flies often become a problem when the weather starts heating up.

But one savvy woman has shared an easy way to stop them, without using fly spray or creating a mess of dead flies around your house.

Laura Stock took to Facebook group Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks to share her clever cleaning trick, using an old dehumidifier and some oranges.

In the post, she wrote: "So it's that time of year again we all know the pain for fruit flies so here is a home made trap that can be reused and smells great!!"

To do it yourself, you'll need an orange, water, washing up liquid, cling film, a container/old dehumidifier box and a tooth pick.

Laura added: "I used the old dehumidifier ones because it looks tidy and the top helps keep the clinging film on.

"Once you filled it up with the orange water and washing up liquid then all you need to do is make little holes in the clinging film so they can get in but not back out!"

Fruit flies often come out in full force as they are attracted to fermented fruits and vegetables, which ripen quickly during the summer months.

The orange in the dehumidifier will attract the flies to the container trap, stopping them from buzzing around your kitchen.
