Amy Childs debuts a flattering take on the two-tone skunk hair colour trend

Amy Childsis known for her signature dark brunette hair colour, but the star of The Only Way is Essex has decided to change things up a bit ahead of the birth of her twins.

In anInstagram storyshe posted on Tuesday, Amy showed off her upgraded hair with a fresh dark colour, and two platinum blonde sections at the front of her hair for a flattering take on the ‘skunk’ hair colour trend.

Skunk hair originally referred to a split-dye style, where hair was divided by a centre parting and each side was dyed a different, contrasting colour. For anyone not quite ready to commit to a full head transformation, the ‘skunk stripe’ is a more wearable version, with contrasting coloured front sections around the face, whilst the rest of the hair stays another colour.

There are plenty of different ways to wear it, with some people opting for an all over blonde colour, then simply dying the front sections a brighter colour such as pink or blue. Others chose to bleach the front sections of their hair then dye them with a colourful shade for a 2020s take on the early 00s ‘emo girl’ trend.

Amy’s version of the trend is by far the most versatile, and is perfect for giving yourself a quick and easy change without having to commit to a complete transformation.

The reality star opted for platinum blonde money piece sections to frame her face, with the blonde continuing underneath her dark hair at the front.

The rest of her hair was dyed her iconic dark mahogany brown colour, and she revealed she had some tape in extensions fromBlend Hairadded to give her short bob some extra volume.

Her new look was styled into bouncy curls to show off the blonde, with lighter sections visible throughout the underneath of her hair.

The look was done by Amy’s favourite hair stylistJoel Maguire , who had shared another snap of the star in February with her all over dark brunette colour, revealing it had taken two to three rounds of dying to get rid of the red shade she had previously had.

If you feel like trying the skunk hair colour but you’re not quite ready to go for such a contrasting colour, plenty of celebs have gone for a more muted version of the trend. Singer and former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson showed off hernew toffee apple hair colouron Sunday, which featured lighter sections around her face in a similar shade to the rest of her caramel-coloured hair which is the perfect subtle way to try out the trend before you brave a dramatic change.
