ASOS planning to open a shop on the high street to sell clothes at a discount | The Sun

ASOS is planning on opening a physical shop to sell discounted clothes to shoppers.

The new boss of Asos told The Sun that the online fashion retailer was exploring all options to get rid of excess stock.

This would be clothes that are out of season that the online retail giant has not been able to shift – which would be put on sale.

If it happens, it would be the first time Asos has opened a physical store in the UK.

José Antonio Ramos Calamonte, who recently took over the running of the business, told The Sun that as well as exploring opening a physical outlet, Asos could also start offloading its out-of-season stock to discount retailers like TK Maxx and flash sale websites.

"We are considering our options", he said.

The need to clear stock comes after Asos reported a collapse in profits and it said it would post a loss for the next six months.

Mr Ramos Calamonte also said that Asos had hiked prices this year.

It said the cost of goods had gone up by "mid-single digits".

Asos isn't the only retailer to have announced a big shopping shake-up.
