Emmerdale’s Will star Dean Andrews’ life with fiancée Helen and grandchildren

Emmerdalehas pulled out the stops to celebrate its 50th anniversary in a series of episodes that have left viewers on the edge of their seats.

In particular, there was an explosion with a quad bike that saw thedeath of Harriet Finch, although Kim Tate did try to save her.

This prompted drama with Kim’s husband Will Taylor, who wondered if his wife killed his ex deliberately – something that viewers know she’s capable of.

On the ITV soap Will is played by Dean Andrews and off screen the actor’s life is certainly different to the drama of his character.

Dean, 59, may be one of Emmerdale’s stars, but it wasn’t where the Yorkshire-born star began his career.

In 2005, Dean played Steven Maynard in the ITV drama Wire in the Blood and a year later he appeared in Life On Mars, as the character DS Ray Carling.

He joined Emmerdale in 2019, but prior to that had stints in Waterloo Road, Ashes to Ashes and Midsomer Murders.

Dean also pays homage to his birthplace in his role as a presenter on Our Great Yorkshire Life and has also made appearances on the show.

Before his big break, Dean worked as a club singer in Rotherham.

It was until he turned 40 that he got his chance in Life On Mars and its follow-up Ashes to Ashes.

But Dean has added a number of strings to his bow to make sure he's never left without a wage.

He has previously shared that when he was working as a singer, he earnt as little as £42.

As a contingency plan, he made investments in a barbershop and a beauty salon to ensure he always had a steady wage.

The proud dad has two children from a previous relationship – daughters Sharny, 36 and Alice, 30.

He is already a grandad to Alice's daughter Ida-Rae and is clearly very proud of her, constantly sharing snaps to his social media. He's also got pet dogs.

Currently Dean is engaged to business woman Helen Bowen-Green and credits her for one of his biggest achievements.

Helen discovered that Robert De Niro was visiting Leeds for "an evening with" show and pushed Dean to enquire about interviewing him.

Helen is very active on social media, sharing insights to the pair's life and often shares sweet snaps of the pair calling Dean her “handsome husband to be”.

Meanwhile on the soap, watches think that Kim could get the blame for Harriet's death and Will could even accuse her of murdering his ex.

Prior to the freak explosion, Harriet had previously tried to stop Kim's wedding to ex Will as she still loves him.

While the two characters even got into a fight moments before the nuptials as Harriet attacked Kim before apologising.
