Eva Longoria says being a mum has made it easier to find time for self-care

Many celebrity mums feel they have less time for their beauty and wellness regime once kids come along, but not Eva Longoria. The glamorous actress has just revealed that being mum to Santiago, 6, has actually made self-care easier for her, not harder.

The actress, speaking in an interview for her L’Oréal Paris ambassador role, says: “Things have gotten easier since I've had him. He's the priority, so I’ve been able to say ‘no’ more. My days are very structured now. It’s made me very efficient with my time, even my free time.”

“So of course there’s time for me because I’ve budgeted for it. I’ve already set aside this to read, to meditate, to work out, to eat well, to do my skin regime. That to me is self-care, not just going to a spa.”

Eva, now 47, admits she spent many nights wondering and worrying if motherhood was part of her destiny, which doubtless explains why she’s now so determined to squeeze the most out of every moment for herself and her family. She was 41 when she married her husband, media businessman José Antonio Bastón, and she was 43 when their son came along. Not being a mum sooner was a source of anxiety for many years, and she admits: “I wish I could go back and tell my 20-year-old self, ‘There is plenty of time. Calm down! You’re not having a baby until you’re in your 40s’.”

Now that Eva’s finally achieved her dream, she says that motherhood is everything you could have ever hoped for, and more. She says that her son is the biggest source of happiness in her life today, and jokes: “I feel bad for my husband because literally I'm like, ‘Move out of the way! I just want to be with him!’”

Naturally, Eva’s mummy self-care regime includes plenty of L’Oréal Paris beauty products. One particular skincare product she includes in her carefully scheduled self-facials is the brand’s Revitalift Filler Eye Serum, £24.99 here.

Eva explains: “I asked a L’Oréal dermatologist what the best thing was for plumping and she said, ‘Hyaluronic acid! And Revalift is dermatologist level.’ I use the whole range. The eye serum has been life-saving for when I have to go to a shoot. By the time I get on set it's just all absorbed and it brightens me. It’s a little miracle.”

Having seen how great she’s looking, we’ll take ten bottles please.
