Expectation vs reality: Mum outraged over baby shower cake 'fail'

Mum-to-be outraged after baker makes a bizarre tropical cake for her ‘woodland creature’ themed baby shower

  • Mum ordered woodland-themed cake for baby shower
  • She received a blue cake with ‘nothing on it’

A mum was left scratching her head after she received a very plain cake from a baker that looked nothing like what she asked for.

The woman ordered a ‘woodland creatures’-themed cake decorated with animals forest leaves, acorns and flowers, for her baby shower.

However, she was dismayed to find she was given a turquoise blue cake with hardly any decorations, two ‘tropical’ palm leaves and a poorly-piped ‘Welcome Baby’ message in the middle.

The frustrated mum said the baker had sent her photos of other ‘perfect’ ‘cottagecore’-style cakes to gauge what style she wanted so she was confused as to how they got it so wrong.

Hundreds online were shocked by the ‘epic’ cake ‘fail’ and encouraged the customer to ask for her money back from the baker.

A mum was left furious after she ordered a ‘woodland creature’ themed cake for her baby shower but received one with ‘basically nothing on it’

‘The baby shower was woodland creatures/cottagecore-themed with shades of green as the main colours and gold as an accent colour,’ the mum explained in a Facebook post to the What I Asked For VS What I Got group.

She shared an image of the type of cake she wanted which was white and brown and adorned with a sweet fondant fox and hedgehog as well as flower branches and acorns.

‘Other photos of cakes that the baker sent ME to confirm the type of cake were filled with lots of animals and mushrooms and trees and flowers.’

‘I said anything along those lines would be perfect. What I got was a blue-ish cake with basically nothing on it.’

Some thought the confusing cake mix-up was hysterical while others slammed the maker for their ‘lazy’ job.

The mum said the baker had sent her photos of other ‘perfect’ ‘cottagecore’-style cakes (pictured) to gauge what style she wanted so she was confused as to how they got it so wrong

‘Are you kidding me? That’s jungle themed, not woodland at all, I would’ve been so upset and refused payment for something I didn’t ask for,’ one member said.

‘The only thing these have in common is that they are both cakes,’ joked a second.

‘Imagine having the unwarranted confidence to make this, hand it to your customer, and expect payment. Wild,’ a third added.

‘I could make a better cake. And I don’t know how to make cakes,’ someone chimed in.

‘I’m so sorry I actually laughed out loud at this! Could they have funked it up any more?’ asked another.

One woman guessed the baker ‘forgot’ about the woman’s order and ‘threw it together’ in haste.

‘The leaves are just outlines and look terrible and the font is terrible. I’m so sorry this happened to you, you should get your money back and that cake decorator needs to be fired,’ she said.

‘It’s like they forgot to make your cake and when you came to pick it up they had an ‘Oh s***’ moment and just pulled a random turquoise cake from the fridge and scribbled some leaves on it real quick,’ another agreed.
