Huge change for Tesco Clubcard customers coming within DAYS – how to avoid paying more | The Sun

TESCO is to bring in huge changes to its apps which could see shoppers miss out on points.

Customers will need to download a new app by Monday, February 27 in order to keep earning points.

The supermarket giant currently have two apps – Tesco Pay+and the Clubcard app.

Tesco Pay+ currently lets you store your credit or debit card along with your Clubcard details, but it will close a week today.

When shopping in store, you can then scan a single barcode in the app to quickly pay and collect points.

But this app is to close in just a week's time and shoppers will need to download the new Tesco Grocery and Clubcard App to keep earning points.

The new app is now available to download the new app from the Apple app store or Google Play store.

But this isn't the only change to Tesco's tech that shoppers will see this year.

The retailer is also looking to close its Clubcard app later this year.

It means all shoppers will need to download the new app by the end of the year to avoid paying more for their shopping.

This is because Clubcard holders get cheaper prices on some items compared to those without the loyalty card.

A spokesman for the retailer said: "We will give customers plenty of notice before the Tesco Clubcard app is decommissioned later this year, however, we would encourage customers to use our Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app for a richer digital experience."

If you still have a physical Tesco Clubcard, you will still be able to use it in store and you won't be affected by the change.

What is the Tesco Pay+ App?

Tesco Pay+ is an app that lets you pay for your shopping, collect Clubcard points, and track your spending in Tesco with just your phone.

It is free to use – you just need to have a Tesco.com account.

You can make one on the retailer's website or directly through the app.

You can use it in any UK Tesco store or Tesco petrol station kiosk.

Tesco has confirmed that the app will be closing on February 27.

What is the Clubcard App?

The Clubcard App lets you scan a digital version of your Clubcard at the checkout in store.

You can also view and spend your vouchers.

The Sun has asked Tesco to confirm when the app will close.

What is the new Tesco Grocery and Clubcard App and how is it different?

Tesco has said its new app has all of the Pay+ and Clubcard app features.

It can be used to pay in-store, collect points and get Clubcard prices.

You can also spend vouchers and coupons, check products are in stock before you shop, create shopping lists and pay check-out free at GetGo stores.

You can also scan the payment barcode to release the 'Scan as you Shop' handset.

To switch to the new app, just search for Tesco grocery app in the App Store or Google Play.

You'll find Pay+ features in the app under 'Shop in-store' and 'Pay in-store'.

How does the Tesco Clubcard scheme work?

Tesco’s Clubcard allows shoppers to earn points as they shop which can then be turned into vouchers for money off food or other partner schemes.

Each time you spend £1 in store and online, you get one point when you scan your card or app.

You also get one point for every £2 spent on fuel.

One point equals 1p, so 150 points gets you £1.50, for example.

You'll need a minimum of 150 points to request a voucher.

Once you have enough points, you can turn them into vouchers worth the face value to spend in store at Tesco.

You can triple their worth to spend at reward partners, including restaurants, and on days out.

Clubcard holders also get cheaper prices on some items compared to those without the loyalty card.
