Huge US fast-food chain to DOUBLE its UK stores in big expansion plan – are you getting one? | The Sun

A HUGE fast-food chain is planning to double its store count in the UK over the next two years.

Dunkin' Donuts, which currently has 30 stores in the UK, hopes to open 30 new branches over the next couple of years as part of a major expansion plan, the Sun can reveal.

As part of its growth drive, it's opening a brand new flagship store on Wardour Street in London later this month.

The fast food and bakery chain aims to have at least 40 branches open by the end of this year, the Sun understands, meaning 10 new stores opening in 2023.

We understand this will include five new stores in North West London, with up to seven shops opening elsewhere in the UK.

Arjun Patel, director at QFM Group, which is the licensee of Dunkin' Donuts in the UK, said: "We are thrilled to be on this journey with Dunkin' in the UK, expanding our footprint in the capital.

"We have had real success in the North of England since opening and additional new store openings this year will enable more people to access our iconic brand."

On September 7, the chain is setting up a yellow cab on Baker Street – the location of its only existing store in London – to promote its new stores.

The first 100 customers who arrive will get a year's worth of free donuts.

After this, customers who speak to a nearby worker will get a promo code for a free coffee by downloading the company's app.

Dunkin' Donuts first landed in the UK in St John's in Liverpool in May 2016.

The chain is huge in the US, where it has almost 9,500 stores spread across the country.

It sells a range of doughnuts and other sweet treats as well as hot and cold drinks.

In the UK, it's so far sold around 1.4million drinks and 2.2million donuts, the Sun understands.

You can find your nearest Dunkin' Donuts store by using its 'store locator' tool on its website – just type in your postcode or nearest town or search on the map.

The fast-food retailer has also just launched an Autumn menu with new doughnut flavours including cinammon apple, maple chocolate and salted caramel cheesecake starting from £2.35.

Dunkin' Donuts isn't the only bakery chain expanding its footprint in the UK.

We recently revealed bakery Wenzel's is planning to open nine new stores this year, while Patisserie Valerie is making a comeback with two shops reopening and further branches planned.

Greggs is also on a growth drive with a target of 150 net total stores opening in 2023.
