The author said she doesn’t wear the jeans often, and always check their smell before she does
‘But the majority of people just seem shocked that this woman would say this on national television. One person commented at the time, “I wish people would stop telling this propaganda – jeans smell and people aren’t clean so you should wash them regularly”,’ Sandra said.
‘From a negative point of view, I get comments like, “that’s disgusting, gross and grim” and I’m a tramp apparently – but the jeans haven’t got a single mark on them and they don’t smell so it just makes me laugh,’ she added.
Addressing the controversy in another video on TikTok, Sandra revealed: ‘I wipe them, I don’t wash them straight away.
‘I do do the smell test,’ she said, adding: ‘the reason I don’t wear them often is because I have lots of pairs of them, I absolutely love them and they are very handy.
Some people were shocked by Sandra’s decision not to wash her jeans more often, while others sided with her
Some people sided with Sandra, with one writing: ‘The founder of Levi famously said to not wash them at all unless you drop something in them.’
And the entertainer said she has no plans to amp up the number of times she washed her denim.
‘I won’t be washing them unless I feel like they need to be washed,’ she said.
‘Mine look brilliant so unless they get a significant mark on them, or they start to smell, I won’t be washing them,’ she added.
The author went on to say that even if her jeans started to smell, her first instinct would be to pop them in the freezer rather than load them in the wash.
