A LUCKY woman who won £10k-a-month for 30 years says she bought the winning ticket she after seeing a lucky sign.

Doris Stanbridge from Dorking scooped the whopping jackpot on The National Lottery's Set For Life game.


The sales assistant used to play Lotto every Saturday but she decided to try her luck with a different game when she saw two money spiders.

The grandma from Surrey said: "I was out in the kitchen when I felt something tickle my arm. I looked down and it was a money spider crawling off of my hand.

"I flicked it off, went into the conservatory and there was another one! I said to my girls, ‘I’ve seen two money spiders now, I should do the lottery."

The former sales assistant and husband Keith stopped working when they realised they had become millionaires.

She explained: “I wasn’t planning on retiring for a few more years but I am going to stop working in the next few months.

"Keith has already retired, only two weeks before all of this, so we can retire together now and enjoy it."

The life of the lucky punter changed forever days before she was set to go on an annual trip to Cornwall with her daughters in August 2023.

Doris played the Lucky Dip game and the following Sunday she received the shocking email announcement.

She said: "I looked at it and said to Keith, ‘have I read that right? Does that say what I think it says? No, it can't be!’

“I rushed round to my son-in-law, who lives next door. I knocked on the door and practically shoved my phone in his face and asked him if it said what I thought it had said!

"He logged on to his National Lottery app and said ‘yes those are the numbers, there was one winner and it’s you!’”

The loving couple have now become millionaires and will receive £10,000 each month for the next 30 years of their lives.

Doris said: “It still seems a bit strange when I think about the win and that I will get that money every month for thirty years. It gives me a reason to be around until I am 100!

“Getting that first payment was bizarre, it felt very strange to see that amount of money in my account."

It comes as another lucky man who won £10k-a-month for 30 years said he knew he had hit the big time after the machine made a strange noise.

John Stembridge, 51, from Trowbridge, Wiltshire, scooped the whopping jackpot on The National Lottery's Set For Life game.
