‘I tried Taco Bell for first time to see if it could beat KFC and Burger King’

Even if you haven't eaten in Taco Bell, you're sure to know the name.

The American fast food chain has been a regular on our TV and film screens for years, meaning it's became a household name in Britain before we could ever eat in there.

According to a quick search on the internet, Taco Bell has been in the UK since 2010.

So I'm not sure why it took me until this week to try it out for the first time.

Mexican food is my favourite cuisine too. There's nothing more I love than a burrito, taco or quesadilla.

And although I've spotted the local Taco Bell in my high street for just some time now, there was something that was putting me off getting it.

I feel like with most fast foods such as McDonalds and Burger King, you're just getting things like a burger and chips which you can't really mess up.

However, I was a bit sceptical that you could do Mexican food justice from a quick takeaway.

How wrong I was though.

Me and my boyfriend usually get a takeaway on a Monday night (to start the week healthy and all that) and were browsing on Uber Eats for what to get.

We do usually have a Mexican favourite already, although the food from there had been a bit rubbish a few times, so I was looking for an alternative.

Taco Bell caught my eye and I decided to just browse the menu, not thinking I'd actually get anything from there.

However, I was surprised how good the food looked in the pictures and it seemed like you got a lot for your money.

I tend to not like that many things on menus a lot of the time, but I was spoilt for choice of what to get and took a little while to decide, with various burritos, quesadillas and tacos catching my eye.

After a while of thought, we settled on the Cravings Meal for 2, as you got a few different things with that and I wanted to try a lot of them out.

The deal gets you two crunchy beef tacos, two regular fries with nacho cheese sauce, and your choice of two different specialities (e.g. burrito or wrap etc.)

As well as that, you also get two portions of cinnamon twists for desert.

And all of that comes in at just £19.99.

Even if I didn't really like it, I thought it was quite a bargain price for all that food.

Anyway, with our selections made, we eagerly anticipated our meal, which actually turned up early (probably as no one else gets a takeaway on a Monday).

I quickly got the plates and dug into the bag and was surprised to see how good the food looked.

I first had the Crunchwrap Supreme, which is a wrap filled with grilled chicken, black beans, tomatoes, lettuce cheese and sour cream and couldn't believe how big it was.

After digging in, it tasted so much better than I imagined too, with the lettuce nice and fresh and the fillings a good ratio.

I quickly tried a crispy beef taco to see if this was good too, and to my surprise this was also delicious.

I thought I was on a roll so went for one of the fries, which come seasoned with a slightly spicy dust.

To be fair, I feel like they would have been good if hot, but after being delivered, most chips aren't that great. They were still pretty tasty for takeaway chips though.

One of the things I was most intrigued about what the cinnamon crisps though, as it isn't something I would have ever ordered myself if it didn't come in the deal.

I didn't know what to think when I bit into them to be fair, with the crisp texture but sweet taste, and I still don't know if I liked them to be honest. But hey, they were free in the deal, and not offensive.

Most of the deals you can churros with instead, which I feel like is a must tastier option.

I looked up at my boyfriend, who was more keen on getting Taco Bell than me, and nodded at him – it was one of our best takeaways in a while.

Despite my reservations at first, I have to say it's better than the likes of Burger King and KFC just because of how much you got for your money and the variety of deals they do.

I don't think it beats McNuggets for me yet, but it put up a pretty good fight.
