A female truck driver has opened up about losing her job after a life-altering accident that has left her in "agony every day".

Kori Flemming is known for sharing videos on her TIkTok @kori.kola of her life on the road while running her own trucking business.

One video seen 100,000 times saw her closing the heavy container doors on the back of her truck and impressing the male truckers around her with her strength.

But now, the 35-year-old, from Gary, Indiana, US, has been involved in a life-altering accident.

It has left her suffering from chronic pain and rendered her unable to drive her 18-wheeler anymore.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Kori explained: "I was at a stop light in my 18-wheeler truck when another trucker who wasn't paying attention went into the back of me on September 21, 2022.

"I was taken to the hospital and got checked out but I was sent home. A few months later I was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome.

"No one understands this unless you have gone through it or know someone that has. I am in constant pain 24/7.

"My pain is not always intense, sometimes my pain level can be at a two and I can have somewhat of a “normal” day but there is no warning when the pain can go from a two to a 10 and the pain is disabling.

"I am always nervous and thinking about when my pain is going to get worst. Pants burn my legs, sometimes the burning is so bad that I can't wear a bra or air hurts my arm and will cause me to have a flare-up."

Kori has also had to have her driving licence downgraded to just being able to drive a car because of the condition, which has left her needing strong painkillers daily.

The CPRS affects the left side of her body meaning she "hasn't had full motion in her left arm and hand" as "it remains in a “stuck” position since the accident.

"My life is not the same and far from it," the TikToker said.

"I went from being able to get in my truck, meet new people, show off my skills as a trucker, teach/represent woman truckers, travel, and live life to not knowing how I'm going to keep my lights on or pay my bills to being depressed and unsure of what the future holds. I just want to get better and be how I was before the accident."

She also says that her insurance company has not yet paid out her worker's compensation, which she would have put towards covering her medical costs that aren't covered by her health insurance plan.

The trucker is now having to raise $75,000 (£59k) on GoFundMe to cover the costs of a specialised treatment program to help her recover from the incident with Spero Clinic.

Her insurance company has been contacted by the Daily Star for a comment regarding her compensation claim.
