I was scammed out of £3,200 on a dating site | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I SIGNED up to a dating site through Facebook and got scammed.

I’m a 34-year-old single man and a carer for my elderly mother.

I have never had a serious relationship and a neighbour recommended this website.

He’d met his wife through it and they couldn’t be happier.

It took me a long time to get a match but I did eventually.

The woman said she was 35 and seemed really into me.

She said she was having problems with her car but couldn’t afford the repairs, so I sent her £200.

Then she told me the garage said her car was beyond repair and she needed a new one.

I sent her £3,000. She accepted the cash and said she would pay it back.

But she ghosted me.

She has since disappeared and so has my cash.

I’m scared to date again.

DEIDRE SAYS: I’m sorry you have been caught out like this.

Unless you had something in writing about the money, you are unlikely to see it again.

But not everybody on dating sites is out to scam you.
