Im getting on my own nerves with how bad my baby brain has become, says Frankie Essex

Former TOWIE star Frankie Essex gave birth to her twins, whom she shares with boyfriend Luke Love, in May and has since revealed to the world that they’ve named their little bundles of joy Logan and Luella.

In her exclusive column for OK! , Frankie has discussed a range of topics in regards to motherhood – from her first social outing with the twins and a blackout at her home when they were just a few days old, to “feeling more human again” as the babies dropped their dreaded 2am feed.

This week, Frankie opens up about how her “baby brain” has gotten worse, Luella’s teeth finally coming through and weighs in on the ongoing bath towel/bed sheet debate…

YouTube tutorials have been a life saver

I’ve used YouTube tutorials for loads of things with the babies. I’m not even joking. From using the Tommy Tippee machine, to putting up the pram – loads of things.

There’s so much stuff and it really helps, and when you’ve just had a baby you can’t think straight anyway. So things like that really do come in handy. I love YouTube.

My baby brain is getting worse

My baby brain is so bad. The other day I was sorting out the babies’ clothes and I folded them downstairs because it’s easier, and I was sitting on the sofa doing it and when I thought to myself, ‘Where have I just got these clothes from?’. I could not for the life of me remember where they’d come from. Then, Luke went for a massage and I thought he’d gone for a run. I was thinking, ‘Bloody hell… he’s been gone for ages”. I was wondering where he was at but he’d gone for a massage – which I knew but I just forgot!

My memory’s gotten worse in the past month. It was bad before, but now it’s really bad. I keep forgetting little annoying things. I get on my own nerves. It’s mad!

I change my bath towels every other time I use them!

I change my bath towels every other time. I’ll use them twice, then when I do my hair I’ll use the one I was using for my body for my hair and get a new one for my body. But the babies share one towel. Whoever gets in the bath first has it, then they swap over. They don’t get one each – it’s just long. They’ll be fine, they’re both clean anyway.

With bed sheets, I change them every two weeks if they’re dirty. If they’re not… I just leave them, but if I’ve fake tanned or something then I’ll obviously swap them. I get into bed clean anyway so I don’t think it’s a major thing in needing to change them all the time.

Luella’s teeth have finally come through

Luella’s teeth have come through. Finally. She’s not doing very good, they’re driving her mad. She was up at 4 o’clock in the morning until 5. There’s nothing I can do but lie with her and comfort her.

Logan’s teeth are doing okay, he’s always chewing on something though. Apparently a baby’s first four teeth are always the worst.

I wasn’t given the option of a natural birth with the twins

I wasn’t given a birth plan with the twins. About two or three weeks before they were born, they asked me what date I wanted… I was like, 'Oh? I get to choose the date the babies are born?'.

I wasn’t given the option of a natural birth because Luella was breached and there was a chance of her turning, but she was twin two. I was stressed but for her safety I just agreed to having a C-section. If twin one’s head is down you can give birth naturally and hope for the best, but there’s always concern for the second twin. There’s the option to try giving birth naturally and then going in for a C-section, but then you’re sore in both areas, which isn’t great.

Everyone’s talking about Joey and Vanessa’s almost-kiss…

I know Joey tried to give Vanessa a little kiss on Dancing On Ice but she pulled away, and now everyone’s talking about it. I think she was just a bit camera shy.

I’m not 100% sure if they’re dating or not. When I saw Joey the other day he was in a rush. Luke and I went into Chigwell to get a bagel and he was there but he was walking to work and stopped for a brief chat. He’s always in a rush, I can never catch him.

If they’re dating, they’re dating, if they’re not, they’re not – but at the minute they’re filming a show, so that will be the priority.

He’s doing really well. I love watching it, but when Joey comes on I’m like, ‘Oh my god don’t hurt yourself!’
