‘I’m plus size love daring outfits – the world won’t crumble if I wear a bikini’

A plus size model loves to wear daring outfits as it helps her to feel comfortable in her own skin.

Sarah Ostiguy, 28, from Montreal, Canada, boasts a huge following on Instagram for her body positive approach to life.

The digital creator produces content to show fashion is for women of all shapes and sizes.

Speaking exclusively to The Daily Star, she recently revealed how she learnt to embrace her bod.

Sarah has been a content creator for seven years, but it's been her full time job for the past year-and-a-half.

During her time at college she was keen to get fashion experience, but nobody would hire her, so she started to document her own outfits.

She put together a fashion portfolio to help land a job in the industry – but it never happened as she ended up creating inclusive fashion content full-time.

Now she's known for flaunting her curves in amazing outfits and celebrating the female body in its natural form.

When it came to how she learnt to love herself, Sarah said: "A few things have helped me over the years.

"I found friends with similar experiences around self confidence and acceptance."

She added: "It’s an important thing because you feel less alone in your lived experiences, and have someone by your side that truly understands what you are going through.

"I remind myself that our body and our size are the least interesting things about us.

"We have so much to offer the world that doesn’t involve our looks.

"We are kind, we are thoughtful, we are hardworking.

"Our value in this world should lie in our soul, our personality, our thoughts, not our looks."

And – perhaps obviously – fashion played a big part in how she learnt to express herself.

Sarah won't let anyone tell her what to wear, and she'll wear whatever she wants to as long as she feels comfortable.

The content creator said other people should try it too, as it's a great way to build confidence.

"I wear something daring," she added.

"Could be a bikini, a tight bodycon dress, anything out of your current comfort zone that you are usually too self conscious or scared to wear.

"You wear it and you live in it, you get comfortable, you get used to it and it becomes normal.

"You start feeling better about yourself in it, and you realize that the world doesn’t crumble simply because you wore something they think you shouldn’t have.

"Forget the beauty standards, forget the rules, wear what you want for you."

Sarah also posts a lot of pictures of herself modelling lingerie on Instagram, and this has really boosted her self esteem.

While it may seem daunting to some, she said there is a power in simply embracing the skin you're in, and showing you're not afraid to be yourself.

She said: "I have found that owning my body and showing that I have nothing to hide has truly helped my confidence grow, while simultaneously showing my audience that they too have a beautiful body worth showing off.

"I have found that while yes, I experience bullying and negative comments about my body and what I post, it is the sharing of experiences with my audience that make it all worth while.

"Most of us are on a self love journey, so why not take this journey together?"
