Inside Dapper Laughs wedding complete with red double decker and bride Shelleys halterneck dress

After four long years of waiting, comedian Dapper Laughs and his girlfriend Shelly Rae have finally tied the knot.

The social media star, whose real name is Daniel O’Reilly, fought back the tears on Friday 8 July as he finally managed to say ‘I do’ to his long term partner, after the pandemic derailed their wedding plans twice.

The 38 year old comedian is well known for his controversial jokes, but also famously proposed to Shelley back in 2018 after he was evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Popping the crucial question during his exit interview, Daniel both stunned and warmed the hearts of the nation as he asked Shelley to spend the rest of her life with him in emotional scenes.

Reflecting on his time in the CBB house, Dapper said: “Do you know what, when I was in the house, every day I regretted I didn't ask you… so will you marry me?”

Sealing the proposition with a make-shift paper ring crafted with a little help from rapper Ginuwine, Shelley agreed, with the pair soon making plans to plough ahead with their big day.

Following two Covid related postponements, the happy couple were finally able to wed today as they attended the Weybridge Registry Office to make their marriage official.

Dressed in a suave rust-coloured three-piece suit, the comedian was the perfect compliment to the traditional red double decker London bus that saw the couple arrive for their big day.

Yet it was Shelley that stole the show, as she arrived draped in a stunning Mikado halter neck wedding dress complete with fitted bodice and cathedral length train.

Accessorising her look with a few chic adornments that included a pearl and diamante hair slide, teardrop earrings and neatly embellished pointed toe heels, Shelley looked every bit the blushing bride as she arrived smiling at the venue with her bridal party.

Complimenting the look, the bridal party itself also opted for a slightly unusual colour palette, as they too wore white in a break from traditional wedding rules.

Meanwhile the groomsmen followed Dapper’s example of fine tailoring and sported navy blue suits complete with orange piping detail and matching ties.

The wedding party also featured a little help from some younger members of the family, with the couple’s five year old daughter, Neve, among the flower girls at the celebration carrying pampas grass bouquets.

The happy couple had been dating for three years prior to Daniel popping the question live on TV, with Dapper Laughs having picked up quite the fan base following with his trademark brand of humour.

His turn in the CBB house in 2018 was an attempt to salvage his career after making a controversial joke about rape, but during his tenure on the show, he once again courted controversy by making crude comments about his fellow contestants including an oral sex joke about Anne Widdecombe.

Reflecting on his behaviour in an interview with Loose Women following his eviction, Daniel said: “I don’t want to underplay it or what it did to my career. It was a flippant comment. I got carried away with what I was saying. And I was showing off and it was just a stupid thing to say.”

Called out for his behaviour by panellist Nadia Sawalha, the star admitted he was trying to turn over a new leaf, with his own daughter now very much at the forefront of his thoughts.

“I do say stupid things and I do have a very different view now when I look at my baby Neve,” he told her.

“And I know it shouldn’t take you to have a baby daughter. I have to learn how to say things in more of an intelligent way, which is hard for me.”
