Kate Gosselin claimed that her son Collin Gosselin has undergone psychiatric treatment due to  “unpredictable and violent behavior.”

“My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years,” Kate told People in a statement on Friday.

“For the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters and for his own well-being, he was placed in a facility following years of outpatient treatment which proved insufficient for his needs.”

Kate, 48, continued, “The decision to admit him was made by emergency room doctors following one of his many attacks/outbursts — this one involving his use of a weapon.”

She furthered that after Collin, 19, was removed from treatment, he allegedly exhibited “unpredictable and violent behavior” regularly toward her ex-husband Jon Gosselin, 46, and their daughter Hannah Gosselin, 19, as well as “others around him.”

Kate further alleged that Collin’s “mental illness” has made their relationship “complicated and painful” and outsiders shouldn’t make judgments.

Kate claimed that Collin remains a “very troubled young man” who has a long road of recovery ahead.

Kate’s statement comes after her daughter Mady Gosselin, 22, accused Collin of “physical violence and hate speech.”

Since 2018, Collin has been living with Kate’s ex-husband Jon. The father of eight came out in support of his son after being hit with the accusations.

Their family drama played out on a recent episode of “Jon & Kate: Family Circus” in which Jon claimed to have no idea why he is estranged from six of his eight children.

Meanwhile, Collin claims he hasn’t spoken to his siblings since his mom had him institutionalized in 2016. They didn’t even speak after he survived a near-fatal car accident last year.

“I think my mom kind of drove a social barrier between us,” he claimed. “She told them the story one way, and, obviously, I see the story a different way.”

The family starred on TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8” from 2007 to 2017. Jon and Kate ended their marriage of 10 years midway through the show and the mom was awarded full legal custody of their children at the time.
