Prince William and Kate Middleton are extremely hands-on parents who like to be involved in their three children’s lives as much as possible. But there is one thing Kate admitted she struggles with during Princess Charlotte’s morning routine.

All parents will understand the trials of getting three young children ready for school in the morning, including Kate.

With three children under 10 – including a little seven-year-old Princess who enjoys nice hairstyles, the Princess of Wales has her work cut out for her.

During a visit to Cumbria in June 2019, Kate revealed one thing that she struggles to help Charlotte with in the morning.

A young girl who met the Princess of Wales on her visit offered her a bouquet of flowers, and was met with a sweet compliment from Kate.

She stated: “I love your plaits. They are so pretty. Who’s done those, who’s done your plaits?”

Kate remarked that the girl, five, and her sister, three, looked “very sweet and lovely”.

Then Kate made a sweet revelation, which many parents of young girls will relate to.

She continued: “I tried to do a plait with Charlotte this morning, it didn’t really work very well.”

Kate didn’t confirm whether she was unable to teach Charlotte how to plait, or if her own plaiting skills were less than stellar.

However, a previous video of Kate plaiting hair suggests the royal mum is actually very good at the hairstyle.

Earlier in the year in February, Kate joined a makeup demonstration and storyboard masterclass with children from Malvern Primary School.

The royal was spotted hanging out with a group of girls, helping to plait one individual’s hair.

Kate appeared to be a pro as she chatted away whilst completing the task effortlessly.

However, she did appear to ask the children how to do French plaits, so perhaps that is not a braid the Princess had yet mastered.

Royal fans were delighted to see Kate mucking in with this activity, commenting on the Twitter video.

@JacquelynBram5 stated: “Always so hands-on in participating with the children and really engages herself with the activities. Truly an amazing and beautiful lady.”

@fairygem1 added: “Awwww bless Catherine is sooo good with children.”

@biblio8 said: “How lovely! It’s such a fun experience for the children.”

Kate’s own daughter Princess Charlotte has been spotted wearing plaits on a few occasions so far this year, so perhaps Kate has perfectly honed the skill.

The young Princess looked very sweet with little plaits at Trooping The Colour in June and The Commonwealth Games in August.
