Lilt fans listen up as the tropical drink is being scrapped by Coca-Cola.

The refreshing tropical drink delivers everything your tastebuds need with its pineapple and grapefruit flavours.

It's tangy and super delicious as it's one of those beverages you'll never forget the taste of.

Now after almost 50 years on our shelves, Lilt is being axed.

But fortunately fans won't have to say goodbye to the flavour as Fanta is set to release a similar version.

Coca-Cola, which owns Lilt, decided to relaunch the beverage under Fanta.

Fanta is already home to a range of flavours, including strawberry, grape and lemon, not to mention orange and fruit twist.

Now it'll be adopting the flavours of Lilt under a new name – Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit.

The change is set to come around a lot quicker than you think as the new drink hits shelves tomorrow (February 14).

It promises to bring the "same totally tropical taste" that fans of Lilt already know and love.

The packaging is set to feature Fanta's branding but it'll display its roots with "a graphic nod to the totally tropical taste" of Lilt.

A zero-sugar version of the drink will also be launched as part of the rollout which might not come as a surprise to many fans.

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP), said: "Keen Lilt fans may have spotted a gradual transition as the drink made its way into the Fanta family over the past few months, with changes to its packaging and logo.

"Some even hypothesised on social media that Lilt may be becoming part of the Fanta brand, and one even went as far as producing their own news broadcast-style video."

Martin Attock, CCEP GB VP of commercial development, explained the main priority of the announcement is to "reassure Lilt's loyal fanbase that absolutely nothing has changed".

He added: "It's still bursting with tangy tropical flavours. It's just got itself a new name."

The news comes just a couple of years before Lilt was set to celebrate its 50th anniversary after being released in 1975.
