Love Island star quits showbiz and goes back to school in bid to become a lawyer

Love Island contestant Tyler Cruickshank has confirmed he is preparing to return to education and will be training to become a lawyer.

Tyler, 26, starred on the ITV2 reality show last year but has decided to turn his back on the showbiz lifestyle and focus on starting a career in law.

Telling his Instagram followers about his plan, Tyler – who finished in fourth place with with Kaz Kamwi on Love Island 2021 – wrote: "So, as some of you will already know, I’ve wanted to go back and finish my studies for a while now.

"Law is something that I'm extremely passionate about and I have always said one day I would want to go back to complete what I started.

He continued: "Well, that time has come – I'm proud to announce that I'm partnering with @barbri_sqe to embark on my SQE [Solicitors Qualifying Examination] training.

"I'm super excited about this new chapter and can't wait to share my journey with you all!"

Liam Reardon, winner of Love Island 2021 with his now-ex Millie Court, showed support, he commented on the post: "Yes bro go on."

Other friends and fans also commended and congratulated Tyler on his career move, with one follower telling him: "Really great, well done."

Another well-wisher added: "That’s great stuff my learned friend! All the best with your studies."

Tyler previously opened up about struggling to cope with online trolls since finding fame on Love Island 2021.

The star said he was pushed to breaking point and blamed keyboard warriors for his failed relationship with Kaz, claiming the "pressure to be perfect" was ultimately the the final nail in the coffin for them.

The couple parted ways in December, four months after leaving the villa.

"I’ve watched Love Island before and I’ve never seen any couples come under that much scrutiny before," he said. "I was so taken aback about it. We both felt the pressure and it was starting to take its toll on both of us.

"They liked us so much to get us to the final but then you’re bombarded with all this hatred. It was weird to come out and see all that abuse.

"Ultimately it ended up tearing us down."
