With around 2.4 million people watching Love Island every night, we can only imagine how daunting it is for the contestants to know how many eyes are on them at all times. This means the pressure to look “perfect” must be huge – and as such, you would naturally rely on your fellow contestants to let you know if there was lipstick on your teeth or if your hair extensions were showing.
Now, dumped 2022 Islander Afia Tonkmor, who must have watched herself back once she arrived back home, is jokingly speaking out about a makeup application mistake she made while in the villa – and one that the girls didn’t tell her about.
Afia has taken toTikTok to share her mock-horrorthat nobody in the villa let her know her concealer wasn’t blended properly during the evenings, causing her under-eyes to look overly light.
The video, captioned “'When I asked the girls every night if my makeup looks ok”, shows Afia lip-syncing to the iconic line from fellow contestant Davide: “You are a liar, actress, go the f**k out.”
Afia is clearly poking fun at herself and not having a serious go at the other Islanders – and fans are loving her humour. The viral video has now been viewed over five million times, with hundreds of Love Island fans commenting their thoughts about it.
“It was just your concealer, apart from that your makeup was fine!” one fan tries to cheer her up.
Afia responds to the comment, saying: “That was a big part tho,” adding a laughing face emoji.
“It was probs just the camera making it appear that way. Sometimes it just picks up things like that,” says another, to which Afia replies: “I wish! But it was in real life, I just didn’t focus enough to request darker shades.”
Plenty of other followers were also quick to praise the 25 year old for her gorgeous looks. Others were quick to share their own experiences of holiday makeup mishaps, mostly caused after concealers and foundations didn’t match their own skin tones while spending time in the sun.
Speaking about the makeup shades on offer in the villa glam room, 2021 Islander Kaz Kamwi told OK! in a recent interview that a full spectrum of makeup tones are available, but they sometimes have to be requested.
“I think there was only one time my bronzer shade wasn’t there, and I was looking around thinking ‘oh my goodness, what am I going to do?’ I promise you, like ten minutes later I got called out and they’d added extra shades,” Kaz explained.
“If our foundation shades or concealer shades weren’t available, they [producers] are listening in and they pick up on that. We get pulled out and asked what we need.”
Makeup mishap or not, Afia looked incredible in the villa, and we can’t wait to watch more of her TikToks about her Island experience.
