Love Island’s Gemma Owen finally shares the secret to her full brows – and it costs £16

Gemma Owen first appeared on our screens in August 2022 as one of the contestants on summer Love Island, and she was an immediate hit with both viewers and the other contestants.

Known for her cheeky banter and down to Earth personality, viewers were also big fans of her full, bold brows, with many desperate to know how she achieves the natural-looking finish. Finally, the influencer has shared her secrets behind her bold brows, and fans will be thrilled to know that her must-have product, REFY Brow Sculp, only costs£16 here.

During a ‘chatty get ready with me’ video she shared on her YouTube, Gemma shared some of her favourite tips and tricks with viewers, including how she does her eyebrows. Although she admitted: “Eyebrows are another thing that when I watch makeup tutorials, people do off camera, because they are quite stressful”, Gemma showed her subscribers exactly how she gives her brows shape and definition.

Starting with the REFY Brow Pencil,£14 here, Gemma first used the spoolie end of the double ended pencil to brush her eyebrows upwards and into position. Next she takes the pencil end, in a deep brown shade, to start creating definition br first creating a line underneath her brows.

She explains: “I use the pencil end to make that line, then fill in a little bit at the front” as she uses short feathery strokes to draw upwards at the front section of her eyebrows to mimic hairs. “I feel like eyebrows are a very personal thing” Gemma continues, adding: “And lips as well, like how you do your lip liner. Whenever I get my makeup done I always like to do my lipliner myself.”

As she’s chatting, Gemma continues to line her brows, carefully extending the line to the tail end underneath and filling in sparse patches with the pencil to create depth and fullness, before also creating a line above them too to help give a sharp definition to their shape and brushing them back up again to “See what I’m working with”, as Gemma puts it.

She copies the technique on her other eyebrow, before moving onto adding brow gel. Gemma explains she’s using the eyebrow gel just to set them in place, as she brushes the gel through her brows starting at the front, where she brushes the hairs upwards, before swooping it along the length of her brows following their natural shape.

“Some girls prefer the fluffy eyebrow look” Gemma continues, “but personally I don’t think I do, so I’m just going to use the brow pencil to push those little hairs down that have just gone up as I put the gel on” as she shapes the hairs into a more sculpted shape.

Just as she finished up her eyebrows, there was a surprise cameo from Gemma’s dad, legendary football player Michael Owen, who interrupted her to ask if he could use the bathroom – good to know even famous families are just like us!
