Love Island’s secret smoking rules including sneaking in cigarettes for contestants

There are a number of rules in the Love Island villa you might not be aware of.

Recently, former islander Shaughna Phillips discussed all things Love Island with OK! , sharing how long it takes to film the recoupling scenes as well as revealing that sometime filming goes so late into the night they can "hear birds chirping".

But what you may not have known is that producers 'secretly sneak in cigarettes for contestants.'

Former contestant on the show Sharon Gaffka, 26, discussed how things work when it comes to smoking.

The TV star revealed they'll "ask" for breaks outside the villa using "limited" supplies.

Sharon told The Sun: "I don't remember there being smokers when I was there, but I know if you were you would have your cigarettes allocated to you in a lunch box and you'd have to ask a member of production.

"I'm not sure if they got rationed, but I remember those lunch boxes had people's name on for cigarettes.

"If you wanted a cigarette you would have to say into your microphone 'I really want to go for a cigarette'.

"They'd say, 'OK, we'll get someone from production to supervise you and it'll take place outside the front door somewhere'.

"You would go there, you would have your cigarette and then you'd go straight back in. You wouldn't be on your own, it would be you and a member of production."

As well as the smoking rules, there are rules that apply to drinking in the villa too.

Season 4 alumni Eyal Booker previously revealed that alcohol "was very, very limited" and that it was "max two glasses of wine a night and that's max!"

During a Q&A on TikTok, Amy Hart from Season 5 answered a question on whether Islanders can take each others' drinks.

She replied: "No, and they tell you on the first day that if you do get caught giving your drink to anyone that everyone gets banned from drinking for five days.

"So then you'll let everyone else down, so don't do it."

Callum Jones, who appeared in the first series of Winter Love Island in 2020, confessed to an early night during his series for doing exactly that.

He explained: "I didn't have too many drinks… [It was about] seven but that's because no one wanted to drink so I thought 'Why not? It's going to go to waste so I'll drink it'".

Molly-Mae also opened about the rules on flinging back a drink or two.

Molly-Mae said: "I think I probably had about one glass of wine the whole time I was there.

"You can have two glasses of wine a night which some people still manage to get drunk off because they're actually quite big glasses".
