Major supermarket to close multiple stores within days – is your local closing its doors? | The Sun

A MAJOR supermarket is to close multiple stores within days following a string of closures.

Iceland has already started shutting the doors on half a dozen shops, with the next two set to close in less than a week.

Three stores have already shut in the last few weeks, including one in Bromsgrove, Basingstoke and Rhyl.

Below is a list of stores that are closing this month:

  • South Street, Newport, Isle of Wight – March 25
  • St Catherine’s Place, Bedminster, Bristol – March 25
  • Deiniol Centre, Bangor – March 27

An Iceland spokesperson previously told The Sun: "We continually review our Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse store portfolio to ensure we’re delivering the best experiences for our customers across the country."

Which Iceland stores are closing down?

Across Iceland and The Food Warehouse the chain has over UK 1,000 stores.

Over the last few months major chains have announced closures, including Paperchase and B&M.

Food and pub chains have also been closing doors at several locations across the country – including Wetherspoons.

It comes following a tumultuous period for businesses struggling to bounce back after Covid and then to be hit with rising energy bills.
