This star’s message is written all over her face.
“Moana” actress Auli’i Cravalho surprised fans by walking the red carpet for her latest project with a red lipstick handprint across her mouth, sporting the bold style statement with a deeper meaning at the premiere of Amazon Prime’s “The Power” last night.
Wearing a form-fitting white Naeem Khan gown with purple and green beaded detail, the singer, 22, posed on the red carpet while showing her support for Indigenous women with her lipstick.
A red handprint painted across the mouth — like the one Cravalho sported on the red carpet — has traditionally been used to show support for missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls in North America.
“I’m grateful to wear Naeem Khan as a dress, and I’m also representing No More Stolen sisters, and bringing light to murdered and Indigenous women,” Cravalho told ET at the event.
The “Crush” star — who wore her hair in a loose bun at the nape of her neck with plenty of curls hanging out — added that her time working in Canada inspired the look.
“We were lucky enough to be filming in Vancouver for ‘The Power,’ and I saw many a monument about it, and I’m so grateful to be working on a film based on female empowerment,” she said, adding, “I felt like I had to put my money where my mouth was.”
In the sci-fi series, Cravalho and a group of teenage girls find themselves with the power to electrocute people at will, a quality that the actress told ET she found “groundbreaking.”
“For me, watching this and creating this project really made me wish that I had the power,” she said.
“I didn’t realize how often I acted or didn’t act due to internalized fear of not being strong enough. And I think that the power really does change everything. It’s groundbreaking.”

Cravalho, who made her acting debut as the voice of Moana in 2016, will switch up her style for another role in the near future as she stars as Janis Ian in the upcoming musical remake of “Mean Girls.”
“I don’t know if you can tell, but my tips are still tinged green for Janis,” she told ET of her hair, which was apparently dyed for the project.
The Disney star continued by saying she was “having a great time” on the highly anticipated project.
“Listen, it’s fantastic. It’s so much fun. I know that we are giving honor to Tina [Fey], as well as our Broadway cast,” she said, concluding that fans “are not ready” for the “Mean Girls” fun in store.
