Owner of two huge UK restaurant chains SOLD affecting nearly 100 branches | The Sun

THE owner of Franco Manca and The Real Greek has been bought out in a £93million takeover deal.

Fulham Shore is swapping hands with Japanese company Toridoll, which is worth £1.5billion and owns 5,500 stores globally.

Fulham Shore currently runs 27 Real Greek restaurants and 70 Franco Mancas in the UK.

Meanwhile, Toridoll runs the Marugame Udon, Shoryu and Wok to Walk chains in the UK.

Toridoll said there was "significant opportunity" to expand its presence in the UK after taking over Fulham Shore.

The group plans to open six new UK restaurants across both brands in the 12 months ending March 2024 – but it's yet to confirm where.

It added that it'll review the expansion plans in October 2023 at the half year.

It comes as the business said its revenue reached record levels last year.

However, the coronavirus pandemic has seen the type of restaurant that performs well change, with those close to offices struggling.

It added: “The outlook for costs, be they utilities, raw ingredients or labour continue to present challenges for all operators within the sector and we are not immune.

"As with other operators, finding staff remains challenging.

“Thanks to both our brands’ affordable, value-for-money proposition, the group is well placed to offset these increased costs through increased menu pricing which, when they occur, will be implemented to cover costs rather than increase margins."

It comes just days after The Sun exclusively revealed the self-made billionaire Issa brothers are plotting an £8billion takeover of Subway.

The pair are understood to be eyeing up the 44,000-restaurant chain.
