Pepsi-addicted man drank 30 cans a DAY for 20 years

Supermarket worker who drank 30 cans of Pepsi a DAY for 20 years ‘has been cured after being hypnotised’ out of habit that cost him £140,000

  • Andy Currie, 41, drank up to 10 litres of full-sugar Pepsi a day for two decades
  • This habit cost him around £20 per day, amounting to close to £7,000 a year
  • Mr Currie says he was cured of his habit after just one hypnotherapy session

A supermarket worker who drank up to 10 litres of full-sugar Pepsi every day for 20 years claims he has beaten his addiction after being hypnotised.

Andy Currie, 41, from Bangor, would drink an entire litre of the fizzy drink after waking up every morning – and could guzzle up to 30 cans per day.

His Pepsi habit cost him around £20 per day, amounting to £7,000 a year.

Mr Currie said he always enjoyed the taste of Pepsi and quickly got ‘hooked’ on the soft drink when he was in his 20s.

‘I work nights so always liked the sugar rush to keep me going. I’d go through four or five two litre bottles of Pepsi every day,’ he said. ‘Because I work at Tesco I could just buy it straight after work and take it home.’

However, Mr Currie admits the habit costs him a ‘fortune’, adding: ‘I could have bought a car every year for the same amount I was spending on Pepsi.’

Thankfully, the supermarket worker has been able to kick his habit after meeting a hypnotist.

Mr Currie decided to take action after he reached 19st and his doctors warned him he was at risk of diabetes. He managed to lose two stone, but couldn’t stop drinking Pepsi.

It was then that Mr Currie contacted London-based therapist and hypnotist David Kilmurry, who identified him as having avoidant restrictive food intake disorder.

The supermarket worker claims that after just one online hypnotherapy session, he was cured and able to drink a glass of water for the first time in two decades.

Within four weeks, he had lost another stone of weight.

Mr Currie said: ‘David met me online and hypnotised me for about 40 minutes. I don’t know what he said but afterwards I just didn’t want to drink it anymore.

‘I’ve still got two cans of Pepsi in my fridge which I was going to have before the session but didn’t have time.

‘I haven’t touched them in a month and don’t plan to. I prefer water now. My wife Sarah says my skin looks better and I’ve got so much more energy.’

Hypnotherapist Mr Kilmurry said Mr Currie’s Pepsi habit was ‘by far the worst sugar addiction I’ve ever heard of.’

He added: ‘This kind of addiction is very dangerous and puts huge pressure on your vital organs.

‘Andy was pre-diabetic and needed to change quickly before heart disease and potential pancreatic cancer took him.

‘It became a poison and a crutch to him. Since working with him I am delighted to see him drinking water and healthy drinks.’
