Range Media Partners has acquired the upstart athletic management shop Stoked to bolster its in-house sports vertical, Range Sports.
Announced on Monday, Range brings Stoked clients and executives into the fold including veteran Lowell Taub, who has been named chief revenue officer and head of athlete marketing at Range Sports. Taub founded Stoked Management in 2020, and over almost three decades has become one of the most recognized sports agents in the industry. He’s brokered over half-a-billion-dollars in partnerships for athletes across categories including the Olympics, football, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf and action sports. Taub has been honored on the Sports Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” list.
Clients coming over in the acquisition include World Champion Surfer John Florence, Peloton instructor and influencer Kendall Toole, Olympic Track star Gabrielle Thomas and dozens more.
“Lowell is a uniquely talented leader with an impeccable reputation. We are excited to have him and the rest of the Stoked team lead our Athlete Marketing practice and accelerate the growth of our broader Range Sports platform.,” said Range Sports Co-Presidents Will Funk and Greg Luckman:
Prior to Stoked, Taub served 13 years at CAA as head of sports endorsements, after that mega-agency acquired his previous management company
“Leading Stoked the past three years has been everything I had hoped for when we launched. I have been inspired by Range’s growth during the same period and I could not be more thrilled to join such an impressive team,” said Taub. “Range’s collaborative culture and expansive shared services platform is the perfect home for Stoked to continue to provide best-in-class services and results for our clients.”
Range Media Partners was founded in 2020 by CAA defects like Peter Micelli and Jack Whigham, looking for a more bespoke approach to dealmaking. The company counts private equity from Point72 and an overall production and distribution deal with A&E Networks.
