Rare Kew Gardens 50p coin sells for 370 times its value after 28 bids on eBay

The Kew Gardens 50p is one of the most sought-after coins out there.

Only 210,000 of these rare coins were released in circulation, making them ever so valuable for collectors.

It was first released in 2009 to mark the 250th anniversary of the iconic London landmark.

In the past, we've seen it scoop a lot of bids on eBay with Brits eager to splash the cash to get their hands on one.

Now over the weekend, one seller managed to receive over 25 bids for the coin which sold for a price tag of £185.

The seller wrote: "100% genuine 2009 Kew Gardens 50p coin – circulated – collectable and rare. See photos.

"And the coin you see is the coin you will receive. Posted 1st Class in a protective bag."

Its starting price began on February 20 at a cool 99p before shooting up to £100 on the same day.

In a few hours, the coin received multiple bids with one collector hoping to pay £130 for the Kew Gardens 50p.

Then after a week, the final bid closed on February 20.

And in total, the coin racked up 28 bids with it selling for more than 370 times its face value at £185.

With 12 bidders eyeing up the coin, the seller threw on a £2.05 standard delivery fee.

It's always worth checking your wallets to see if you have the rare coin lying in your change.

The Kew Gardens 50p coin has remained one of the rarest since 2014.

Previously, it sold for £211 on eBay as collectors are often involved in auctions to get the coin.

It features the iconic Chinese Pagoda at the landmark in the famous London gardens.
