A relationship expert has shared the five different types of dater, and why knowing your relationship type will help you to find lasting love.

Louanne Ward, from Perth, highlighted five types of person when dating, including the Parent, the Captain, the Love Enthusiast and the Nourisher.

Louanne said ‘your dating personality has influenced every relationship you’ve been in, as well as being your point of attraction’.

She posted on Instagram: ‘Just by knowing your default personality, you’re far more likely to find long-lasting love’.

THE PARENT

The first type of person in a relationship is the Parent.

‘This single is often the strong one and it can feel like your partners don’t have your back,’ Louanne said.

This type of person in a relationship often seeks out someone to look after or ‘parent’ – but they can end up feeling drained when that person doesn’t look out for them in return.

THE SEE-SAW

The second type, Louanne highlighted, is the See-Saw.

This type is ‘either pedal to the metal or slamming on the brakes’, she said.

‘Things might start off great, but then they lose interest quickly and want to move on.’

This personality type can be frustrating to date because you never know where you stand with them and then it feels like they have lost interest.

THE CAPTAIN

Captains are the type As of the dating world.

Louanne explained ‘whether it’s subconscious or not, they love to take the lead and achieve their goals’.

The Captain will often not let a relationship detract their from their main goals, whether those goals are career or personal based.

THE LOVE ENTHUSIAST

Fourth on Louanne’s list is the Love Enthusiast.

While you might think this is the best type of person to be in a relationship with, in fact the opposite can end up being true.

‘Despite its name, this can actually leave you with a broken heart time after time and often presents itself through the form of people-pleasing,’ Louanne said.

This type of person doesn’t always say what’s on their mind, which can lead to negative situations down the track.

THE NOURISHER

Finally, Louanne said one popular dating type is the Nourisher.

‘Do you somehow seem to attract people who seem to have their act together but somehow you end up having to “fix” them?’ Louanne said.

The Nourisher loves to look after and help people, but are actually far better off going for someone who actually does have their act together.

Previously, Louanne shared the two types of men you’ll come across when dating who will never commit – and revealed why they are so toxic if you’re looking for long-term love.

She said the player and the perpetual bachelor are the two types of man you need to be able to identify in order to steer clear of.

The reason why is because both will most likely end up breaking your heart by moving on to someone else.

‘Ladies, there’s a difference between a player and a perpetual bachelor,’ Louanne said.

‘The player is usually a charismatic, confident, well-dressed guy who has been blessed with good looks.’

But, she added, you shouldn’t be fooled by these good looks, as the player is ‘all about conquest, make no mistake about that’.

‘He’s just about the hit it and quit it,’ she said.

‘So once they’ve got what they want, they generally won’t stick around for very long.’

Even worse, Louanne added, such man are ‘quite proud’ of the reputation they have earned as a player and they may even ‘wear that label like a badge’.

When it comes to the perpetual bachelor, Louanne said they are entirely different kettle of fish.

‘These guys are usually successful, good-looking, they’ve never been married or that was a long time ago,’ Louanne said.

On the flip side of this, this type of man will have ‘many relationships’ and ‘happily date somebody for a short period of time’.

‘When you ask them about marriage, they might say “oh yeah I’d like to do that sometime in the future”,’ Louanne said.

‘But they are single by choice. And then never commit for a long period of time.’

The five changes you need to make to date well after age 30

1. Remember you don’t have all the time in the world: Biologically, remember you have a window.

2. Men aren’t in the same rush: If it feels as if men aren’t in the same rush as you when dating, then remember they don’t have the same pressures and time constraints.

3. Don’t wait for perfection: Holding out for a man who meets all of your requirements is not a strategy.

4. Choose the right man: Choose the man who you want to build a relationship with, rather than waiting for them to choose you.

5. Get out of your masculine energy: Instead of running off masculine energy where you’re capable and powerful, channel your feminine energy and your more vulnerable side as this is more attractive and captivating.
