Vladimir Putin has been in power as the President of Russia since 2012. While on paper, it is claimed that he makes a modest income of $140,000 a year and has an 800 square-feet apartment with three cars, many claims reflect that his net worth is as much as $200 billion. Living a lifestyle where money can never run out, the President of Russia has made extravagant and valuable expenses to suit his name. He has built a Black Sea Mansion for a whopping $1.4 billion and owns 19 more homes along with a luxury watch collection with the rarest timepieces.
Regarding traveling, Putin does not hesitate to ride around in style. Whether it is land, air, or sea, he has ensured that everything he owns is extravagant and larger than life. Putin owns a $100 million mega yacht and a fleet of 700 cars, but what truly takes the cake is his $1 billion aircraft collection that reportedly features 58 aircraft and helicopters. 8 Airbus ACJ319 ($75 million)
Vladimir Putin’s most expensive private jet, Airbus ACJ319, is one of the newest aviation to join the fleet. The plane has a capacity of seating 19 passengers and has been redesigned in 2018, as noted by Nomad Jet. Used by Putin for short-distance flights, the Airbus jet has a Master Bedroom with a king-size bed, ensuite VIP bathroom, and shower. Along with streaming services and video conferencing tools, the aircraft has a non-stop flying range of 10 hours.

7 8 Tupolev Tu-154 ($45 million each)
A powerful three-engine medium manufactured by Tupolev, the Tu-154 first took flight in 1968. It was a famous flight amongst world leaders during the early 1990s and mid-2000s as it was exported to various countries for its air forces. One of the fastest civilian aircraft active, it has a seating capacity of more than 116 passengers. However, only 64 of these aircraft have been built to date, with Putin owning 8 of them; the model stopped production in 2010.

A long-range version with a short fuselage, the Tupolev Tu-204-300a has a higher cruising speed with short wings. This Tupolev aircraft is similar to the Boeing 757 and Airbus A321, having a 200-passenger seating capacity. While the two aircraft companies have seen a sale of more than 1,000 units, only 90 Tu-204-300a have been manufactured, as reported by Simply Flying. Tupolev has also worked on an advanced version, Tu-204SM, which first took flight in 2010.
5 15 Mi-8 Helicopters ($17 million each)
Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, the Kazan Helicopter Plant, and the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant partnered to create the Mi-8 Helicopters, which are used by more than 50 air force services worldwide. Putin owns 15 of these helicopters that come with a twin-engine and are available for military and civil services. Thirty troops can occupy the helicopters at a time or 12 stretchers based on their function.

Owning not one or two but five Ilyushin IL-62 jets, the aircraft remains one of the best aviation creations by Russia. The plane first took flight in 1963 and has been actively used. As mentioned by Air Charter Service, the aircraft has a seating capacity of 198 passengers simultaneously but also comes with an 86-passenger luxury configuration. Furthermore, the interior is customized based on the owner’s preference, and Putin ensures that his jets usually have a leather interior in neutral shades.
3 Dassault Falcon 7X ($54 million)
One of the best business jets created by Dassault, the Falcon 7X is an advanced piece of engineering not many have achieved. The business jet is active in more than 41 countries and has a 12-16 passenger seating capacity. The interior has three lounge areas and a total of 28 large windows. In addition, it has many entertainment options and private bedroom suites with onboard showers for a relaxing experience between work.
2 Ilyushin Il-18 ($18 million)
This turbo-cop airliner first took flight in 1957 and is dubbed the most durable airplane of its time. With a capacity of 120 passengers, the Ilyushin Il-18 has nine crew members on board. The aircraft only has 334 units built, out of which Putin owns 1. The aircraft is known to break many records for its durability, including 45,000 flight hours, and remains operational for civilian and military use.
1 Yakovlev Yak-40 ($2.5 million)
A soviet-era private jet, the Yakovlev Yak-40 is a trijet that can accommodate around 120 passengers at a time. The production began in 1966, and only 1,011 private jets have been built to date, including the one owned by Putin. According to Business Insider, the plane was packed with three engines and was structured by Soviet state airline Aeroflot. The Yak-40 is the first production model, and more than twenty jet variants have been designed. However, only 19 aircrafts are currently in service in Russia and the Central Asian regions.
Vladimir Putin spends millions on tweaking and modernizing the interior of these decades-long private charters. Most of his aircraft have customized workspaces to hold business meetings in the air. As one of the most powerful leaders in the world, it is not surprising that Putin also has a dominating aircraft collection.
