After a year of waiting,Strictly Come Dancing is finally back on our screens and a whole new host of celebrities are dancing it out to get their hands on the infamous glitterball trophy.
But while the likes ofKaye Adams, Kym Marsh and Helen Skelton may be new to the Strictly ballroom, it’s not just the celebrities who will be stepping onto the BBC dancefloor for the first time.
In fact,in what is the biggest Strictly professional line-up to date, four new pros will be heading to our screens for the first time ever, including newbie Carlos Gu. But who is the pro dancer and what do we know about him? Let’s take a peek…
He may be new to the glitz and glamour of Strictly, but Carlos certainly isn’t new to the world of ballroom.
The 28 year old has excelled in the field and is the Chinese National Dance Champion in addition to being a multi world semi-finalist.
If that wasn’t enough, the TV star also came third in the German Open Championship and was the UK’s Amateur Latin Rising Star Runner Up in 2017.
As part of his career, the pro dancer is often seen travelling the world with dance partner Susan Sun.
Carlos has remained tight-lipped when it comes to his love life, so it's unclear whether or not he is in a relationship.
However, Carlos has briefly left the world of competing behind him as he embarks on his Strictly Come Dancing challenge – something he couldn’t be happier about.
Speaking of the news, he said: “I’m thrilled to join Strictly and very excited to get started.
“It’s a new chapter of my life and a new challenge as well. I’m absolutely ready to take on this journey and to shine.”
Despite only recently joining the Strictly cast, Carlos appears to have struck up friendships with his fellow pro dancers, including Nancy Xu, Dianne Buswell, Johannes Radebe and Katya Jones.
In response to an Instagram post where he thanked his followers for their support on his new adventure, Katya replied: “We love you Carlos!!!!!!! You are such a beautiful person and a phenomenal dancer! I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”
The star also accompanied some of his co-stars on a group outing and could be seen grinning from ear to ear as they posed for an adorable picture together.
Alongside Carlos,Under 21 British National Champion Lauren Oakley and Latin dance champion Michelle Tsiakkas will all make their Strictly debut this series following the departures of Oti Mabuse and Aljaz Skorjanec.
