Three items to always buy at ASOS and what to avoid | The Sun

ASOS is a popular online retailer for shoppers looking for the latest fashion trends.

You can find everything from trainers to prom dresses, but what is worth buying from the online fashion retailer, and what is best avoided?

Loyal customers of the clothing retailer will probably know that ASOS stands for As Seen on Screen.

When the fashion brand first launched in 2000, it sold clothes worn on TV by celebrities and famous faces, giving shoppers the chance to wear the same or similar clothes as their idols.

As the brand grew so did its offering and now as well as its own label products you can find a wide range of dresses, shoes, accessories, sportswear, haircare and cosmetics, to name a few.

We had a look on the site to try and narrow down the best things to buy from the ASOS and also try and spot if there are any items to be avoided.

What to buy

Unlimited free next-day delivery

You can sign up to ASOS Premier for unlimited next-day and nominated delivery on orders of over £15 (plus free standard delivery on all others).

It costs just £9.95 for a whole year.

ASOS Premier pays for itself after just two orders with next-day delivery.

If you made two orders as a non-premier member it would cost you £11.90, with premier membership that is £9.95 (remember that is for the whole year).

Topshop clothing

ASOS officially bought Arcadia brands Topshop Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT in February 2021.

So if you are one of the many loyal Topshop fans, as sad as it is to not be able to see the stores on the high street you can still buy the clothes on ASOS.

They hold a large range from basics such as vest tops and bandeau tops to the iconic Topshop jeans.

Devotees of the Topshop brand can still get their Saturday night outfit or a swimming costume for their holidays and get a touch of nostalgia when they see the famous black and white logo.

ASOS is the only place you can still get Topshop clothing unless of course, you can find something second-hand in a charity shop or on eBay.

Dress rental

Dress hire is becoming more and more popular now with retailers and ASOS is no different.

They have a dress rental section where they have linked up with Hirestreet where shoppers can choose from hundreds of wedding-guest, bridal, bridesmaid and summer dresses.

Prices for rental start from just £20, and in most cases is significantly cheaper than the retail price of the dress.

One example is the ASOS textured drape midi shirt dress with tie, in orange.

This dress has a retail price of £22 but can be hired from £22 for four days.

If you were wanting to keep the dress for longer the price goes up, so 10 days would be £32 and 30 days would be £50.

Still much cheaper than buying the dress outright, however, the period of hire does run consecutively, so if you really liked the dress and wanted to hire it over again, you could end up paying the retail price anyway.

What to avoid

ASOS does a wide range of beauty products and carries brands such as Benefit, NYX, Garnier, Nars and Maybelline to name a few.

While it might be tempting to pop a few lipsticks in your bag along with your outfit for the weekend, it might not be the best idea.

As convenient as having a one-stop shop for everything and being able to get everything all in one go from the comfort of your own home, do check the small print.

If you wanted to return any beauty products they must be in the same condition they were upon delivery.

This means that they need to be unused and still sealed.

This could mean that if you open something up and decide it's the wrong colour or just change your mind, your return will not be accepted.

With beauty products, if you want to be sure you are not going to end up with a foundation that is the wrong shade it is probably best to try it before you buy.

Many retailers offer testers for make-up and beauty products, so just pop down to the high street to be sure you are buying what is right for you.
