Tim Allen reprises his role as Father Christmas in new trailer for The Santa Clauses

Christmas may be two months away, but it’s never too early to get into the festive spirit. And whether you could celebrate the festive season every day of the year, or whether you’re more of a Scrooge, nothing quite screams Christmas like snuggling under a cosy blanket with a cup of hot chocolate while watching a classic festive film.

But this year there’s a new TV series on the block that’s guaranteed to get the Christmas spirit going, with Disney+ releasing the first trailer for its upcoming The Santa Clauses TV spin-off starring Tim Allen.

Having starred in the trilogy’s three instalments, viewers will be familiar with Tim’s role as divorced dad Scott Calvin who is forced to save Christmas after accidentally killing Father Christmas.

And now, Disney+’s TV series looks set to breathe new life into the 90s and 00s films, with 69 year old Tim reprising his role as Scott.

In the new trailer, viewers can see Scott 30 years down the line as he struggles down a chimney while delivering presents. However, things don’t go too smoothly for the festive hero as a woman catches him in the act.

Elsewhere, Scott, who is evidently exhausted by the role that he has unintentionally taken on, can be seen tellinghis children that he will be retiring “for the good of Christmas”.

But as he embarks on his new life away from his festive duties and focuses on being a doting parent, Scott begins to question his decision after his replacement ends up “destroying the Christmas spirit”.

As a result, he is forced to admit “I retired too soon. I hired the wrong guy,” before returning back to the North Pole to save Christmas once again.

With the first The Santa Clause film premiering back in 1994, the upcoming series comes nearly 30 years after the trilogy made its on screen debut and is set to be released on Disney+ on 16 November.

After sharing the clip to YouTube, fans were quick to flood the comments with support of Tim and express their happiness that the film was being reprised as a TV series.

“This is going to be such a great joy to watch. So pumped for Tim Allen's return as Santa Claus aka Scott Calvin,” wrote one user.

“Oh I can’t wait to see Tim Allen returning as Santa Claus and Scott Calvin it’s gonna be so good,” commented another.

Meanwhile, a third user wrote: “This looks amazing. I love the Santa clause movies so much so I’m very happy they did this. I can’t wait.”
