A MAJOR supermarket already known as the UK's cheapest is slashing prices further.
Aldi has reduced the cost of 55 essentials in the fruit and veg aisle, from apples to sprouts.
Golden Delicious and Granny Smith apples have been reduced from £1.49 to £1.29, a saving of 20p per 6-pack.
A 500g bag of sprouts is now 95p instead of £1.29, a 34p savings, and six organic bananas cost 10p less at £1.19 instead of £1.29
The discount supermarket said it was the biggest round of price cuts it's made this year.
Julie Ashfield, Aldi's managing director of buying for the UK said: “Our promise to our customers is that we will always keep our prices as low as possible.

It came in as the best value for money for a basket of 37 everyday items beating seven other shops.
The weekly shop at Aldi costs £65.21 compared to £66.53 at Lidl, the second cheapest, and £71.48 at Asda which came third.
It's not the first time it's come top of the monthly ranking, also topping it in August and in July.
I was also named cheapest supermarket of the year in 2021 and 2022.
Aldi is not the only supermarket cutting prices, after a tough year of rising costs for shoppers.
Supermarkets have been under pressure to pass on falling costs as price pressures in the supply chain ease.
Morrisons announced last week it's slashing prices on more than 170 in September.
It's the eighth round of reductions the supermarket has made this year.
At the same time Marks and Spencer revealed it is locking prices on 140 food products until after Christmas.
Asda cut prices on 425 branded and own-label products last month to help customers grapple with the cost of living squeeze.
